WITH JOY DRAW WATER FROM THE WELLS OF SALVATION

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to our Bible Study of the wonderful Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment before we move forward to share this teaching with as many as possible to expand our reach with the gospel, the Truth. Thank you for sharing, you are an integral part of this Ministry. The picture today is of Donna and me a few years ago, God is so, do good. Today we will be moving forward in the twelfth chapter of the wonderful Book of Isaiah picking up with the third verse. Now, let’s read the entire 12th chapter out loud. Yes, out loud. You do want to build faith, don’t you? Remember without faith it is impossible to please Him. I am not talking about feigned faith, hoot and holler faith, but faith that is producing results in your life and the life of those around you.
Isaiah 12:1-6 (KJV)
1 And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
4 And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
5 Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.
The Prophet Isaiah is telling a rebellious people of God what they will be saying and what awaits them once there is a change of heart (repentance and they return to Him as their only God). The salvation available to the people of the “Old Testament” was no different than ours and was fulfilled in Christ Jesus. Just as we don’t have the fulness of our salvation like the glorified body neither did they until Jesus led captivity captive (in the Bosom of Abraham) to Heaven on His ascension to the right Hand of the Father. As we move forward this chapter of Isaiah is a wonderful song that we can sing and declare with great joy.
We like these saints of old were to draw from the wells of salvation and so are we New Testament saints. The water here is the Anointed Word of God which transforms and cleanses us. The King James Version uses the word ‘wells’ however the more correct translation would be springs. A well can be quite finite but wells offer a continuous flow. Our God is not finite, the Word of God is not finite, but is without end. Several translations use the word ‘springs’ in place of wells as in the following Complete Jewish Bible translation.
Isaiah 12:3 (CJB)
3 Then you will joyfully draw water from the springs of salvation.
Let’s think for a few moments about joy. This word transliterated from the Hebrew to English is śāśôn meaning cheerfulness, gladness, joy, mirth, and rejoicing according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Do we see this joy in our own lives as we think about, talk about, and hear about our salvation? Have we individually and as a Church become lukewarm?
Revelation 3:14-17 (KJV)
14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Are we a Laodicean Church? Have we become sluggish and slothful? God forbid! Let us, each one, examine ourselves and ask the Lord to show us how to be revived to the joy of our salvation, to the Word of God.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
