DROSS

Greetings precious Blood purchased children and sons of God and welcome back to this illuminating, thought provoking, and empowering study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible. This is all great, very good, news. The featured picture today was provided by our good friend, and man of God, Joe Getchell Jr. A few days before writing the four days of The Three Minute Word for this week the Lord brought my attention to the following verses to discuss briefly.
2 Peter 1:2-4 (KJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
This is an extraordinarily powerful passage. We could talk about these three verses at great length. I believe there are a few points the Lord wants me to bring forward before we move into the Isaiah text. First, I want to remind us all that the knowledge, the understanding and thus the application of any Scripture depends upon the light we have a God, of Scripture as a whole. And, whatever our understanding and application it is far from the whole story. That is to say, whatever depth of our understanding and implementation of any portion of Scripture it is shallow, fragmented.
1 Corinthians 13:12 (KJV)
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
Much more is coming dear ones. We have never arrived and never will arrive so far as our knowledge of God. We must however keep pushing into Him with all due diligence. I will be talking about this for the next several days. Before I move to the Isaiah text notice what causes peace and grace to be multiplied. It is through our knowledge of God, of the Lord Jesus Christ. Of course, it is not the acquisition of our fragmented knowledge alone but the knowledge we receive (don’t reject), believe, and implement as led of the Holy Spirit. Peace and Grace is not multiplied by praying, fasting, having hands laid on us, or jumping and hollering in Church. Now, let’s turn our attention to our text from the Book of Isaiah and continue reading aloud.
Isaiah 1:24-26 (KJV)
24 Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:
25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:
26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.
The Lord is talking to His people then and now. The first fifteen verses describe the condition of God’s people, the condition of the Church today. Verses sixteen through eighteen tells them and us the solution. Then verses nineteen and twenty describe the immense benefits of following the Lord with a whole heart. Nineteen is the number for faith and twenty the number for redemption, thus redemption by faith. Faith in what? God and His Word! God tells His people that they were once a faithful people but now have chosen to be harlots. They had and the modern Church has entered into fornication, adultery with the world.
Yes, they were deceived but at some point, they chose the lie over the Truth just as Eve and then Adam did in the Garden. It may have seemed like an insignificant thing at its onset but it was the tip of the wedge that progressively separated them from the Truth and took them into deep deception and sin. God compares this to what was once pure silver but now contaminated with lesser metals and wine that is no longer pure but diluted with water. Does this not describe the Church today, perhaps even our individual lives? If we are not that pure silver that pure wine, we cannot bear much if any good fruit. How is my, how is your fruit bearing?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
