A WELL OF TRUTH
PEACE OF GOD – PART TWO

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome to this new series titled: “A Well of Truth”. Of course, that “Well” is the Word of God. Please take a moment and share this Bible teaching as widely as possible to enrich the lives of others.
I also want to take a moment to invite those of you who are being prompted and led of the Holy Spirit to become partners with this Ministry. A partner not only utilizes the published materials of this Ministry, but prays daily for us and the Ministry, plus contributes financially on a regular basis.
The first topic the Lord has led me to talk about is “the peace of God” from the following primary Bible text. Today is part two.
Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Last week I started with verse six and the issue of prayer. The main purposes of prayer are to inquire of the Lord, thanksgiving, praise, and then decreeing a thing (will of God). Thanksgiving plays a key role in our prayer life and getting things done for the Kingdom and in our own lives. The Kingdom and His right way of doing is always first. The word request in verse six has to do with calling for something, or requiring something. This has to do with removing obstacles to our receiving the promises of God. Verse six and seven are inseparable, contingent one upon the other. To summarize verse six, we are to resist fear, pray (talk to God), let Him know what we want, and then decree the thing. In this process we are constantly in thanksgiving to Him even while the thing we request, decreed remains in the unseen realm. We are giving thanks, heartfelt thanks because we are sure it will be done. The thanksgiving is a sign of faith and when heartfelt is critical to receiving.
So, we have prayed, found the will of God, told Him what we want, thanked Him for it, decreed it, and now the peace of God keeps or guards our heart. For a moment review the Mark 11:22-24 text which we discussed to some extent last week.
Mark 11:22-24 (KJV)
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
We must believe God, His Word, have faith in Him, be fully persuaded, having unwavering faith. We must say what we want as a command, we must not doubt but believe that what we have said will come to pass. The peace of God is what guards our hearts in this process. The peace of God is way more than a tranquil feeling. Verse twenty-four goes on to say that if we believe we will receive what we say, we shall have it. Again, this is unwavering fully persuaded faith. One option and one option only and that is what we decreed. Now back to verse seven of our primary text.
Philippians 4:7 (KJV)
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
The word peace in the Greek is multifaceted meaning to be joined with, having prosperity, being whole, having quietness, at rest being fully provided for, and set at one with God. Being joined with God has to do with walking with Him in righteousness. We have the same prosperity as God, we are joint-heirs with Christ who is heir of all. We are whole spirit, soul, and body. We have not yet attained the redemption of our physical body but it is a certainty to come at the Catching Away, the Resurrection. We have tranquility for we are in the same position as Jesus, as God. In fact, we are seated already with Him in Heaven. We have rest for we have all the provision of God. And finally, but far from least, we are one with God just as Jesus is one with the Father.
When we know this, receive this, believe this, and make it a part of our identity we are at peace just as God is at peace on His Throne in Heaven. Just what do you expect God gets upset about or feels threatened by? Nothing! What should we get upset about or feel threatened by? Nothing! This is beyond natural understanding but we are not primarily natural people but supernatural. This knowledge of what our God has provided and equipped us to walk in keeps our mind quiet and our concerns for ourselves at bay. One last comment about “the peace of God”. We are not using Gods’ peace but our own. Our peace which is a fruit of the spirit, our spirit, is identical to His. At the new birth our God identical peace is infantile but with exercise becomes strong. Producing fruit is a creative process. From one season to the next a natural fruit tree creates or produces something that did not previously exist. Our peace like the other fruits of the spirit are creative forces that produces what did not exist before the new birth. After the new birth (salvation) the amount and quality of the fruit of peace produced depends on exercise. By this I mean that we declare we are in union (joined) with Jesus, His prosperity is ours, we are whole, we are quiet in our mind, we know and bring to bear all the provision of God, and we are one with God, inseparable from Him. We must not let anyone steal our peace.
Lord willing, I will pick up with a new topic next week titled “The King in Me”.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
