A WELL OF TRUTH
WHAT ABOUT HOPE? – PART THREE
JESUS THE WELL OF TRUTH
Greetings dear friends and fellow believers and welcome back to our Sunday teachings titled; “A WELL OF TRUTH”. Today is round three in dealing with the Truth of ‘hope’. Before I move once again into our subject matter, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible. Thank you for sharing. You are a vital part of this Ministry and are taking your place (in part) in advancing the Kingdom of God. If you did not share you might ask yourself, why? We love you either way and there is nothing you can do about it.
A short time ago Donna and I were listening to one of our favorite teachers and the idea of Bible ‘hope’ was briefly discussed. As you may recall from the last two weeks, the Bible definition of the ‘hope’ I am referencing is a confident expectation or anticipation (Greek Strong’s Number 1680). Confident in who, in what? God, the Word of God! As I was thinking about this, before starting to write I had the following thought: gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor 12 & 14) are tools to build the Kingdom but faith, love, and hope are spiritual laws that govern those gifts. Spiritual law is as certain to manifest as physical laws when triggered. But, do we know how to trigger these laws? Now, back to the teacher and the teaching when hope was briefly mentioned. The teacher went on to make the point that ‘hope’ is one of the big three based on the love chapter.
1 Corinthians 13:9-13 (KJV)
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. (Bold added)
Hope is the image in our mind, in which we see ourselves, of a particular promise of God. Do we see ourselves rich, healthy, with a whole family or are these just words on a page and something we say with a worldly hope of manifestation? Or, is the promise real, we see ourselves in the promise, that is to say, we see ourselves rich, healthy, with a whole family, and so on. Our hope in this case is a confident expectation based on the Word of God. We know that our God cannot, say nothing about will not, fail. I now am led of the Holy Spirit to revisit a Scripture passage from the first week we discussed this Truth of Bible hope.
Hebrews 11:1-3 (KJV)
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Faith is that which under-girds, is our assurance, is the evidence of our hope. Hope is our confident expectation for the manifestation of the Word of God in our lives. One can see and hear faith. Faith acts like and speaks like the promise, the hope, is already in manifestation. Those who have gone before us, that operated in unfeigned faith not only obtained a good report but the promise. Notice verse three. God framed the worlds “by the word of God”. We frame our world by the words of our mouth and we are to have life like God Himself by the words of our mouth from the Word of God.
In verse three above, the word, ‘word’ is rhema which is the spoken Anointed Word of God. Faith speaks out loud, hope speaks out loud, and love speaks out loud. Are we speaking (out loud) these things, Words of God or the words of another? Spiritual Law functions for saint and sinner alike just like physical law functions for saint and sinner alike. A final point for this week is contained in verse three above which is that all physical manifestations have their origins in the spiritual (“were not made of things which do appear”) realm.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week for the final teaching for now on hope.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
