GIFTS – PART ONE HUNDRED-THIRTY-THREE
ARMOR OF GOD – PART SEVENTY-FIVE
HELMET OF SALVATION – PART THREE

Greeting dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word blog titled “Gifts”. We are currently focused on the “Armor of God”. Each time I write this greeting I want to put “Good morning”. Although it appears that most of you read this blog in the mornings some are reading it later in the day. This blog literally goes around the world so some people are reading it at various times of the day and night thus the generic greeting with regard to time. Please take a moment as we move forward to share this teaching (by all means possible) as widely as possible to expand our reach with the Truth. Thank you so much for sharing. Those who share these teachings are a vital part of this ministry. God, our God, through Jesus Christ, is so very, very good. Now, let’s continue reading out loud and read our primary Bible text. You are reading out loud, right?
Ephesians 6:10-12 (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Just a quick reminder these all commands by an omniscient and just God. Everything He commands we can do, not our way, His way. The Kingdom of God is not a democracy but a theocracy with a King. Of course, we have freewill but choosing outside the will of God is never good in the end. Let’s keep the door closed to the evil ones keeping stealing, killing, and destroying out of our lives. As you know we are now dealing with “the helmet of salvation”, so let’s pick that up and move forward.
Ephesians 6:17 (KJV)
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
The word transliterated from the Greek to English as salvation in our text is sōtērion according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. This particular word is used only five times. The primary meaning of this word is defender or (by implication) defence according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Isn’t it wonderful that God Himself is our defender, we have an impenetrable defense? Part of that defense is the Armor of God! The root word for sōtērion is sōtēria meaning to rescue or bring to safety (physical or morally), deliver, and give health according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Isn’t this wonderful? When our spiritual enemies tell us we aren’t safe, saved, delivered and so on, we can respond in the affirmative that we are in Jesus’ name now you get out of my space!
I think you will find it illuminating to look at the synonyms and antonyms for salvation. First the synonyms: ransom, redemption, and deliverance. Now, the antonyms: destruction, loss, ruin, destruction, judgment, condemnation, and corruption according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – New Testament. None of these things found under the antonyms is a part of our futures (those born again or born from above). Isn’t our Lord so, so good?
This particular Greek word used in Ephesians 6:17 is only used five times in the New Testament. The first use is the following.
Luke 2:30 (KJV)
30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
Perhaps you recall the account of Simeon to whom the Holy Spirit had revealed that he would not die until he had seen the salvation of God. When Jesus was brought on the eighth day for circumcision Is when Simeon took the Messiah in his arms made the preceding proclamation by the Holy Spirit. One more verse to bring rejoicing.
1 Thessalonians 5:8 (KJV)
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
Bible hope is altogether different than in the world, in Christ Jesus it is a confident expectation, it will not tarry, it will come to pass.
Lord willing, I will pick up with “the sword of the Spirit” next Friday, until then remember we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
