YOU ARE MY GOD

Greetings dear and precious friends and partners and welcome back to this instructive and faith building Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share this teaching by every means available to you to expand our reach with the gospel, the good news of the Kingdom of God. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture today was provided by our good friend and man of God Joe Getchell Jr. This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago of the Lupines in Maine in blossom. Thank you so much Joe for the beautiful picture. The Lupines are much larger but they remind me of the Blue Bonnets here in Texas. Now let’s launch into our text for today continuing to read out loud. Yes, out loud and you know why.
Isaiah 25:1-5 (HCSB)
1 Yahweh, You are my God; I will exalt You. I will praise Your name, for You have accomplished wonders, plans ⌊formed⌋ long ago, with perfect faithfulness.
2 For You have turned the city into a pile of rocks, a fortified city, into ruins; the fortress of barbarians is no longer a city; it will never be rebuilt.
3 Therefore, a strong people will honor You. The cities of violent nations will fear You.
4 For You have been a stronghold for the poor, a stronghold for the needy person in his distress, a refuge from the rain, a shade from the heat. When the breath of the violent is like rain ⌊against⌋ a wall,
5 like heat in a dry land, You subdue the uproar of barbarians. As the shade of a cloud ⌊cools⌋ the heat of the day, ⌊so⌋ He silences the song of the violent.
Our text today is in the Holman Christian Standard Bible translation. This passage as is the rest of the chapter is one of thanksgiving, praise, and worship presumably from the lips of the Prophet Isaiah. As we read this text we can see where it would be easy for a theology to develop that God is doing things in the earth at His will independent of His people. Of course, that would violate Gods’ own laws of mans dominion (authority) in the earth and the freewill of men (and women). All that God does in the earth is triggered by the voice of men in the earth. God works through people, His people, and never independent of people. I invite you to find one example to the contrary. Do you suppose that Isaiah is just thinking this passage, this chapter or do you suppose he is speaking it aloud? In order for any of it to come to pass, it must be spoken out loud, in faith, doubting not, in love, and led of the Holy Spirit. Verses three and five speak to the actions of God in the future, the others of things He has done in the past. It is good for us to recite with thanksgiving the things our God has done in the past and the future things He will do. Remember David before he took down Goliath?
1 Samuel 17:34-36 (KJV)
34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:
35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.
36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
And what happened?
1 Samuel 17:45-46 (KJV)
45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
Did David speak the will of God, and did God back up those Words? Yes, he spoke the will of God and yes God backed up David’s words. And, He will do the same for us, when we speak the will of God in the name of the “LORD of hosts” which is Jesus.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
