WOE TO YOU

Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word and our Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. God is so good to give us His Word. The next few lines are repeats but go ahead and read them again, you can do it. We are not left to wander around in the dark wondering about the things of God, the will of God. He has revealed them to us but we must study the Word. Consider, receive, believe, and act upon the following verses.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (KJV)
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV)
16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
People seem to love to quote verse nine above and are apparently oblivious or perhaps willingly ignorant that God did not leave us in the dark. His Spirit will reveal to us whatever we seek after, “we have the mind of Christ” so let’s use it! Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture of Donna and me was taken on one of our outings recently. God is so good, dear ones. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 33:1-6 (TLB)
1 Woe to you, Assyrians, who have destroyed everything around you but have never felt destruction for yourselves. You expect others to respect their promises to you, while you betray them! Now you, too, will be betrayed and destroyed.
2 But to us, O Lord, be merciful, for we have waited for you. Be our strength each day and our salvation in the time of trouble.
3 The enemy runs at the sound of your voice. When you stand up, the nations flee.
4 Just as locusts strip the fields and vines, so Jerusalem will strip the fallen army of Assyria!
5 The Lord is very great and lives in heaven. He will make Jerusalem the home of justice and goodness and righteousness.
6 An abundance of salvation is stored up for Judah in a safe place, along with wisdom and knowledge and reverence for God.
What a wonderful passage. It seems here that Isaiah, one of Gods’ Prophets for that time is speaking to the Assyrians and to God. On the one hand calling for the destruction of the Assyrians which occurred shortly all the while calling for the Lords’ mercy upon Israel, upon Jerusalem. Take a look at verse four of our text and then consider the following.
2 Kings 7:15-16 (TLB)
15 They followed a trail of clothing and equipment all the way to the Jordan River—thrown away by the Syrians in their haste. The scouts returned and told the king,
16 and the people of Samaria rushed out and plundered the camp of the Syrians. So it was true that two gallons of flour and four gallons of barley were sold that day for one dollar, just as the Lord had said!
As we move forward meditating upon verses five and six, we are reminded of the following verse.
1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJV)
30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
Jesus is perfect wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. Jerusalem has had many glimpses of the Perfect One (Jesus) who was to come, has now come, and will be fulfilled in His Second Coming and the 1000 years of His reign to follow.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Wow, the year is nearly spent, have we spent it wisely?
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
