FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT – PART FIVE
Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Greetings dear and precious saints of God, sons and daughters of the Father, joint-heirs, co-laborers with and in the Son, taught and helped (empowered) by God the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 3:9 (AMP)
9 For we are fellow workmen (joint promoters, laborers together) with and for God; you are God’s garden and vineyard and field under cultivation, [you are] God’s building.
Welcome back to the Friday teachings generally titled “Friday Nuggets”. Wow, Thanksgiving is in the rear view mirror with Christmas less than a week away and the New Year a week after that. Let me ask again, did we spend the time we were given, our most precious asset, wisely? As the Bible says, did we redeem the time (Ephesians 5:16). Before I move on, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to widen our reach with the gospel. Thank you so much for sharing.
Today I will be continuing our study of the fruit of the spirit, the fruit of our spirit. First, some brief review. Never forget we are of like kind with God, in the god class not another class and we are in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:26-28). Consider the following.
Genesis 2:7 (KJV)
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Here we see God fashioning our physical body, breathing life (our spirit man) and our soul into that body. Our spirit man is where the fruit of the spirit are located, it is the part of us through which God communicates with us. Be reminded that the Apostle Paul is writing to Christians. He is not going back and forth addressing first Christians then the heathen and visa versa. So, the following is addressed to Christians and what was going on in the Church at Galatia and our Church today. I am not talking in the abstract, they are sitting in your or my row, behind us, or in front of us, and are even on the platform. Perhaps it is even us.
Galatians 5:19-21 (KJV)
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Those of you who have been following this Ministry for years may recall that not long ago I did a lengthy teaching on the Armor of God and leading into that was a very similar list of sins not just present among the heathen but among the saints. Remember this? Notice he is addressing “followers of God”, “dear children”.
Ephesians 5:1-6 (KJV)
1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
As I finish for this week, let’s briefly consider the following.
Galatians 5:19 (KJV)
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Please do not think of adultery and fornication as physical sexual activity. Adultery and fornication include pornography, the root word for fornication is the Greek word porneia according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Both are a breach of Covenant whether it be physical sexual activity or having another god before the Lord, or another man or woman before the husband or wife. It is the developing an intimacy either physically or mentally/emotionally that is destructive to a marriage or other covenant relationship. Uncleanness can be physical or moral (dirty lewd talk or gestures). In the physical it may be their bodies, their homes, cars, etc. Lasciviousness is the taking of lusts to an extreme, like porn addiction, sex addiction, drug addiction, and so on.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
