THE HOLY ONE

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to this wonderful study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. God is so good to keep His people fully informed if they will but look at His Book and study. As we move forward, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. You are important to us and to the Kingdom of God. The featured picture today is of a Church in the State of Louisiana. This is to remind us to pray for our brethren (male and female) in Christ.
Colossians 1:2-3 (KJV)
2 To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 41:13-17 (KJV)
13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
15 Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.
16 Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
17 When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
Jacob, Israel, is in the pit so to speak, a low point, due to their own choices to rebel against God and rely on the arm of flesh. The Lord God is once again offering His Hand. This is the grace, the mercy, and the compassion of God for His people on full display. Grace, mercy, and compassion didn’t start at the Cross. These are some of the core elements of the character of God. Is it any wonder that there is wrath (of God) at the end of the age when we consider the arrogance of rejecting the Hand of God. In addition, in our time, rejecting the sacrifice of the Second Person of the Coequal Trinity. God calls these people, rejecting His Hand, fools but I suspect that is a much too tame word.
Romans 1:22 (KJV)
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Now, let’s move on to the phrase “the Holy One of Israel”. First let’s explore the word “Holy”. In our text it is capitalized for it is referring to deity, to God. Let’s look at a definition. Holy here is the Hebrew word transliterated to English as qād̠ôš, an adjective meaning sacred, holy. It is used to denote someone or something that is inherently sacred or has been designated as sacred by divine rite. It designates that which is the opposite of common or profane. It could be said that qād̠ôš is a positive term regarding the character of its referent, where common is a neutral term and profane a very negative term. This word is often used to refer to God as being inherently holy, sacred, and set apart; and as being free from the attributes of fallen humanity according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – Old Testament. What about the word “Israel”? We are familiar with the word as the name of a country in the middle east. It did not start there however, it started as a man’s name given by God. You will recognize the following passage as occurring when Jacob wrestled with a supernatural man (entity).
Genesis 32:27-28 (KJV)
27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
The name or word Israel means he will rule as God according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. It was the original intent from the creation for mankind to rule in the earth as God or in the stead (place) of God. Jacob (Israel) goes on to have twelve sons, including Judah. Twelve is the number of Gods’ government. As we find Israel from our text, really from the get go, chapter one, Israel is not ruling their country much less the earth as God. We might say under gods. Today, since Calvary and the Resurrection, the Church is to rule the earth in place of God or under the guidance of God. I am not speaking replacement theology which says the Church has taken the place of Israel. Israel will be a nation before God forever, they remain in Covenant with God but without access to God except through Jesus Christ just like us.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
