Welcome back to this dynamic teaching of the wonderful and precious Bible Book of Isaiah. Please pause for a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. The featured picture today is of the Governor’s Mansion located in the State of Maryland and is a reminder for us to pray for all governmental authority, all in authority.
1 Timothy 2:1-3 (ESV)
1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,
2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
We are not only to pray for all those in authority but obey and honor all in positions of authority.
Titus 3:1 (ESV)
1 Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,
Now dear ones let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in Isaiah continuing to read out loud. You are not a rebellious little sheep, are you?
Isaiah 41:25-29 (NIV)
25 “I have stirred up one from the north, and he comes– one from the rising sun who calls on my name. He treads on rulers as if they were mortar, as if he were a potter treading the clay.
26 Who told of this from the beginning, so we could know, or beforehand, so we could say, ‘He was right’? No one told of this, no one foretold it, no one heard any words from you.
27 I was the first to tell Zion, ‘Look, here they are!’ I gave to Jerusalem a messenger of good tidings.
28 I look but there is no one– no one among them to give counsel, no one to give answer when I ask them.
29 See, they are all false! Their deeds amount to nothing; their images are but wind and confusion.
Other translations name this one coming from the rising of the sun (the east, east of Jerusalem) is a king of Persia named Cyrus. The deliverer will trample or tread those underfoot who have had God’s people in bondage. Sounds a lot like the authority we have in Christ Jesus to tread upon those (evil spiritual forces) who would keep us in bondage.
Luke 10:19 (KJV)
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
This bondage is not the way it is or happenstance, it is due to disobedience to God. Same for us! The children of God, Old or New Testament, were and are never at the whim of the devils or the conditions of the curse. Obedience to God with a whole heart has always resulted in the expression of blessings from the Blesser (God) and anything less gave the demons a place. The demons, the thieves bring only stealing, killing, and destruction into our lives. Our lives are not a gamble or risky undertaking with some people predestined to experience good and others evil, the course of our lives is in our mouths, our love for God.
