O HOW BLIND AND DEAF YOU ARE

Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to this illuminating and stimulating Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. As we prepare to dive into this wonderful Book, please take a moment and share as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. The featured picture today is of Donna and me at County Line a favorite BBQ place here in San Antonio. I continue to urge all of us to pray for one or more of the seven spheres of influence daily even when I have not featured a picture. Let us pray for righteousness to invade every sphere of influence. God is not going to “sovereignly” invade this sphere, although He has the Power, He does not have the authority. He will raise up men and women through which to work, perhaps you are called to this arena. Our desire is for men and women of God, not the heathen, and certainly not the anti-God people, to control these seven gates.
Proverbs 9:1 (KJV)
1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
You may have also heard these pillars referred to as mountains or spheres of influence. All of these are talking about the same thing. Jesus destroyed all of the enemies’ legal right to occupy these gates and it is our job to enforce that victory and occupy the high ground so to speak. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah from The Living Bible continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud.
Isaiah 42:17-21 (TLB)
17 But those who trust in idols and call them gods will be greatly disappointed; they will be turned away.
18 Oh, how blind and deaf you are toward God! Why won’t you listen? Why won’t you see?
19 Who in all the world is as blind as my own people, who are designed to be my messengers of truth? Who is so blind as my “dedicated one,” the “servant of the Lord”?
20 You see and understand what is right but won’t heed nor do it; you hear, but you won’t listen.
21 The Lord has magnified his law and made it truly glorious. Through it he had planned to show the world that he is righteous.
We like to think the Lord is only talking to the heathen but as I have pointed out many times before He is most often talking to His people, those who say He is their God. Time after time the Lord points out to His people that they are confessing with their mouths but their hearts are elsewhere. This is not a new problem here in Isaiah nor has this problem passed away with us. Listen to the Words of Jesus. Yes, listen, you are reading out loud, right?
Matthew 15:7-9 (KJV)
7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Dear ones this is going on all the time all around us. How much victory do you see in the Church (body of Christ)? I’m talking real victory. We shout, sometimes with great enthusiasm about things we do not possess nor see possessed by other around us. Jesus said it is all a show and of no benefit. Dear ones it is of no benefit to us, nor the Kingdom of God. Remember our focus, first in our thinking, is to be the Kingdom of God and His way of doing things.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Let’s look more closely at verse seventeen of our primary text.
Isaiah 42:17 (TLB)
17 But those who trust in idols and call them gods will be greatly disappointed; they will be turned away.
There are many verses in Scripture that are very sobering and think about it, this is one. When we have depended on something or someone and not the Only Living God not only will we be disappointed (great understatement) but turned away. Turned away from what? Isn’t the following passage telling the same Truth?
Matthew 7:21-23 (KJV)
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Could any of us be in this number?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!

24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
