AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to this illuminating and stimulating Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. As we prepare to dive into this wonderful Book, please take a moment and share as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. The featured picture today is provided by our good friend and man of God, Joe Getchell Jr. This is a February picture of Manson Park in Pittsfield Maine for those of you who miss winter. Before going to our main text in Isaiah I want to remind us all that we need to be praying for one or more of the seven pillars of society, on a daily basis. Let us pray for righteousness to invade every sphere of influence. God is not going to “sovereignly” invade these spheres, although He has the Power, He does not have the authority. He will raise up men and women through which to work, perhaps you are called to one or more of these arenas. Our desire and the will of God is for men and women of God, not the heathen, and certainly not the anti-God people, to control these seven pillars, gates, or spheres of influence.
Proverbs 9:1 (KJV)
1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
You may have also heard these pillars referred to as mountains or spheres of influence. All of these are talking about the same thing. Jesus destroyed all of the enemies’ legal right to occupy these gates and it is our job to enforce that victory and occupy the high ground so to speak. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud.
Isaiah 42:13-17 (CJB)
13 Adonai will go out like a soldier, like a soldier roused to the fury of battle; he will shout, yes, he raises the battle cry; as he triumphs over his foes.
14 “For a long time I have held my peace, I have been silent, restrained myself. Now I will shriek like a woman in labor, panting and gasping for air.
15 I will devastate mountains and hills, wither all their vegetation, turn the rivers into islands and dry up the lakes.
16 The blind I will lead on a road they don’t know, on roads they don’t know I will lead them; I will turn darkness to light before them, and straighten their twisted paths. These are things I will do without fail.
17 Those who trust in idols, who say to statues, ‘You are our gods,’ will be repulsed in utter shame.
I think you will enjoy and take much away looking at this passage in the Message Bible. Remember, this appears to be the Second Person of the co-equal Triune God (Jesus) speaking.
Isaiah 42:13-17 (MSG)
13 GOD steps out like he means business. You can see he’s primed for action. He shouts, announcing his arrival; he takes charge and his enemies fall into line:
14 “I’ve been quiet long enough. I’ve held back, biting my tongue. But now I’m letting loose, letting go, like a woman who’s having a baby—
15 Stripping the hills bare, withering the wildflowers, Drying up the rivers, turning lakes into mudflats.
16 But I’ll take the hand of those who don’t know the way, who can’t see where they’re going. I’ll be a personal guide to them, directing them through unknown country. I’ll be right there to show them what roads to take, make sure they don’t fall into the ditch. These are the things I’ll be doing for them— sticking with them, not leaving them for a minute.”
17 But those who invested in the no-gods are bankrupt—dead broke.
We can clearly see that justice is being meted out (handed down) to the disobedient, the enemies of God, the enemies of His people but His hand is outstretched to those who will take it. Do you have ahold of His hand? Without the Lord, His Holy Spirit (our Teacher) and the Word we are as blind as a goose in a snow storm as they say. I can’t speak for you but I for one do not enjoy banging around in the dark always puzzled about the right way. What about you? Then as we come into verse seventeen, He points out the futility of investing in, serving other gods who are “no-gods”. I am not interested in bankruptcy in any arena of my life, finances, family, Ministry or anything else. Our Lord promises to hold our hand tightly and not allow us to fall into the ditch. O my what a wonderful God we serve!
