YOU DON’T DO

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to the wonderful Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. What a wonderful Book teaching us of the astonishing benefits of taking God’s hand and the awful destruction we invite into our lives by disobedience. Dear ones there are two kingdoms choose the Kingdom of light. This wonderful Book of Isaiah also speaks of (at that time) the coming Messiah and beyond. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture today is winter in Maine taken by our good friend and man of God Joe Getchell Jr for those who enjoy winter. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 42:17-21 (TLB)
17 But those who trust in idols and call them gods will be greatly disappointed; they will be turned away.
18 Oh, how blind and deaf you are toward God! Why won’t you listen? Why won’t you see?
19 Who in all the world is as blind as my own people, who are designed to be my messengers of truth? Who is so blind as my “dedicated one,” the “servant of the Lord”?
20 You see and understand what is right but won’t heed nor do it; you hear, but you won’t listen.
21 The Lord has magnified his law and made it truly glorious. Through it he had planned to show the world that he is righteous.
Our passage starts but pointing out the futility of trusting false gods and they will be turned away from Heaven. Do you, do I have any idols, any false gods from which we should turn? Then God exclaims, how blind and deaf are you towards me, why won’t you listen and see? We must hear and see spiritually, far more important than seeing and hearing physically when all is said and done. God goes on to say what seems wrong but must be right, the most blind are my own people. They believe and live by lies when they are designed to be messengers of Truth. As we move into verse twenty we hear the Lord say (you are reading out loud, right?) you see and understand but still will not do right, you hear but never really listen. This is rampant in the Church. What do you think all these denominations is all about? Have you read my book, “Sacred Cows Among the Ekklesia”? My book contains some important Truths that are not believed by many if not most who declare Jesus as Lord and Savior. It is astonishing what people will believe in place of the Truth. This brings us to verse twenty-one.
Isaiah 42:21 (KJV)
21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness’ sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.
The word law in this particular case is the Hebrew word transliterated to English as tôrāh, תֹּרָה tōrāh: A feminine noun meaning instruction, direction, law, Torah, the whole Law. This noun comes from the verb yārāh <H3384>, which has, as one of its major meanings, to teach, to instruct. The noun means instruction in a general way from God according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – Old Testament. Learning the law, the Torah, will bring one into right standing with the Lord and makes them honorable in His sight. Knowing Gods’ laws teaches one to do things God’s way which is right. God created all and knows how everything is intended to work. From time to time I remind us all that in our study of Scripture it can be helpful to look at the gender of a word. In this case “law” or Torah is feminine in gender. Things that are feminine have reproductive capacity. This reproductive capacity can be for good or bad. When the Torah (law) is what is sown into our spirit we will bring forth the good things of the Kingdom of God. On the other hand when the seeds of the enemy are sown into our spirit we will bring forth the bad things of darkness. Jesus spoke of this in a couple of ways and I will leave you with those for today.
Matthew 7:24-27 (KJV)
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Matthew 12:35 (KJV)
35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Evil is anything that is not the Truth like the sacred cows I discuss in my book. Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
