Greetings dear and precious saints of God, children of the Father, brethren with the Christ, and students of the Holy Spirit. Welcome back to this wonderful and illuminating study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Sharing is so important is expands, extends, our reach with the Truth. The beautiful picture of a blue bird today was provided by Marilyn Stevens who takes the most wonderful bird pictures. Thank you so much Marilyn for the beautiful pictures.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 45:8-11 (KJV)
8 Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.
9 Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?
10 Woe unto him that saith unto his father, What begettest thou? or to the woman, What hast thou brought forth?
11 Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.
As dive into our text focusing on the ninth verse, one might ask, what is a potsherd? A potsherd is a piece of clay pottery. Potsherds would be pottery makers. The Chief pottery maker, we are the pottery, is God, but beyond that are all the persons in our lives that shape us. These are the Five-Fold Ministers and other men and woman of righteousness God brings into our lives for His purposes. Let’s look at this ninth verse in two different Bible translations.
Isaiah 45:9 (NLT)
9 “What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator.
Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’
Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’
Isaiah 45:9 (TLB)
9 “Woe to the man who fights with his Creator. Does the pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with him who forms it, saying, ’Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ or the pot exclaim, ’How clumsy can you be!’?
Examining these brings a lot of clarity. As an aside let me point out the difference in these two “translations”. The New Living Translation is a “thought for thought” translation as opposed to a word for word translation like the King James Version. On the other hand, The Living Bible is a paraphrase. The Living Bible was developed in 1971 from the American Standard Bible by Kenneth N. Taylor. Now back to the text. As we examine this verse and the wording of the NLT and TLB doesn’t if seem rather foolish for us to think we have a better way? Now, let’s look at what awaits those who fight against the Creator, against God. Scripture uses the word ‘woe’. I don’t know about you just instinctively I knew I don’t want any woe. The NLT gives some insight with the use of the word sorrow in place of woe. I suppose if you are into sorrow have at it but I for one have zero interest in woe (sorrow). In the Hebrew woe means alas. When we look at the Thesaurus, we get closer to the message Scripture is conveying with synonyms like: anguish, distress, despair, misery, calamity, and disaster. The antonym of woe is joy or happiness, I opt for those two with obedience and cooperation with the Potter.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
