Saturday – December 30, 2023, Tevet 18, 5784
Greetings dear saints of God, brothers and sisters in Christ and welcome back to the study of the Bible Book of Jude. Please take a moment and share all of these teachings as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you so much for sharing. Can you believe it, Christmas is now behind and the New Year is two days hence. It is a good time to reflect upon 2023 and whether or not we did the will of God for our lives. Is the Kingdom of God truly first or something we get too as we can? Our assignments in the Kingdom of God are far more than our Church time and “quiet time”. These are the places of enlightenment and where the Lord steers our day, our week, our life. I am not talking about Him controlling us like puppets but sharing with us His will for today, this week, our life.
If you have been praying about year-end giving, talk to the Lord about this Ministry. Perhaps the Lord is leading you to financially partner with us, we certainly will welcome you aboard. Your giving can be done in just minutes by going to our website (link below). If sending by mail must be postmarked no later than the 31st of December. If you are looking for great gifts for the New Year, birthdays, etc. don’t forget that I have several books available on Amazon.com/books, search for Dr. David R. Wood or the title if you are familiar with these books.
Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text found (you guessed it) in this wonderful Book of Jude.
Jude 1:3-5 (KJV)
3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
I left off last week in verse three and discussing the absolute urgency Jude had at that time for the saints to return to their original faith discarding the corruptions creeping into “the faith” masquerading as Truth. What about today? There are thousands of divisions in the Christian faith. How urgent would he be today? Are we studying to rightly divide the word of truth, are we being good Bereans? Our eternity depends on what we believe. How diligent should we be? How have we become so lackadaisical? Do we have a true revelation of Hell, do we really love (agapē/agapaō) God? I am not your judge for sure, but I do think we all need to up our game by quite a bit.
As we move into verse four, we find “greasy grace” even in that day and men teaching things contrary to the Word of God even denying the Lord. The Apostle Peter speaks of these people as well.
2 Peter 2:1 (ESV)
1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.
Denying the Master does not necessary mean one is denying Jesus but if they deny or corrupt the Truth, He taught it is the same as denying Him. This is how the Apostle Paul spoke of this.
2 Corinthians 11:4 (KJV)
4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
Galatians 1:6-7 (KJV)
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
This is what the Serpent did in the Garden of Eden, he preached another gospel, they followed it into destruction.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next year. Remember, the Lord (Word of God as written) is always right, the Lord is always good, and He cannot lie.
