TRUTH IS LACKING
Video link: https://youtu.be/rWzfgJpQsCg
Greetings dear and precious saints of God. Even if you are not a saint of God you are still precious to Him and therefore to us. He paid the highest price ever paid for each of us to have the option of redemption. Dear ones, it is not about Church, although that is very important, it is about a personal relationship with the Redeemer, Christ Jesus, His Father, and His Holy Spirit. The featured picture today is of this beautiful Church in Louisiana. The purpose for the image is to remind us all to intercede for our brothers and sister around us, our Church, and the Church at large. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text today in the wonderful Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud.
Isaiah 59:12-15 (NASB)
12 For our transgressions are multiplied before You, And our sins testify against us; For our transgressions are with us, And we know our iniquities:
13 Transgressing and denying the LORD, And turning away from our God, Speaking oppression and revolt, Conceiving in and uttering from the heart lying words.
14 Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands far away; For truth has stumbled in the street, And uprightness cannot enter.
15 Yes, truth is lacking; And he who turns aside from evil makes himself a prey. Now the LORD saw, And it was displeasing in His sight that there was no justice.
As we come to verse twelve, we find that this people, what about us, know their iniquities. As we read our primary Bible text, we come to realize this people is in full rebellion. Justice will not be found in this environment and righteousness is not to be seen. Righteousness is doing things right, Gods’ way. Lying and not the Truth is what we find in the street and uprightness is not received in the world nor apparently among those claiming the Lord as their God. Verse fifteen tells us that among this people turned from God, from the Truth, that Truth is lacking. I know that perhaps you don’t like to hear it but all that any of us hear in Church or even our long-held beliefs may not be the Truth. One can be really sincere about a lie but it is powerless.
Acts 17:11 (NASB)
11 Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.
Do we do this or just assume the speaker is telling the Truth? That alone is a giant deception. One might say, well they have been to school, they should know. Both statements are true but they themselves frequently, in fact most of the time, do not know the Truth. As we listen to people, including preachers, talk, be sure to strain it through the Bible, the Truth. We have the responsibility to prove all that we hear before we receive it as Truth and start repeating it.
2 Timothy 2:15 (NASB)
15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
Back to verse fifteen of our primary Bible text.
Isaiah 59:15 (NASB)
15 Yes, truth is lacking; And he who turns aside from evil makes himself a prey. Now the LORD saw, And it was displeasing in His sight that there was no justice.
You know this is true. What about the prolific criticism and mocking of the prosperity message when the Bible teaches prosperity from cover to cover. Don’t let the theologians and mockers intimidate or mislead with statements like: “well brother that is talking about in Heaven”. Yes, we lay up treasure in Heaven but it is not cash, houses, or cars, etc. Our ability to occupy, to do the work of the Kingdom is in our excess, abundant excess. The treasure we are laying up in Heaven is our obedience to Scripture. When we start speaking the Truth not the party line, we are frequently ostracized. This is a part of persecution; a part of the hatred Jesus spoke of when He said if they hated Him, they would hate us. Jesus was talking about the ruling religious class.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
