Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ and any others seeing what this is all about. Welcome to our study of the precious Bible Book of Isaiah. The featured picture is a Church in Pennsylvania. Looks more like a house than a Church but if you will recall many of the early Christian Churches were peoples’ homes and that continues to be so. The purpose of a Church picture is to remind us all of the command from our Lord to continually intercede for our brothers and sisters near and far. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 60:6-10 (NKJV)
6 The multitude of camels shall cover your land, The dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; All those from Sheba shall come; They shall bring gold and incense, And they shall proclaim the praises of the LORD.
7 All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together to you, The rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you; They shall ascend with acceptance on My altar, And I will glorify the house of My glory.
8 “Who are these who fly like a cloud, And like doves to their roosts?
9 Surely the coastlands shall wait for Me; And the ships of Tarshish will come first, To bring your sons from afar, Their silver and their gold with them, To the name of the LORD your God, And to the Holy One of Israel, Because He has glorified you.
10 “The sons of foreigners shall build up your walls, And their kings shall minister to you; For in My wrath I struck you, But in My favor I have had mercy on you.
As you will recall this chapter has to do with Gods’ will for them at the time this was written and for us in our day. Poverty was never the will of God for anyone at any time. Poverty is not a manifestation of Gods’ glory and neither does it attract people to the Kingdom of God. Do you remember how this chapter started?
Isaiah 60:1-3 (NKJV)
1 Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.
2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.
3 The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.
Every one of us are to be participating fully in the Kingdom of God promises and not a single one promises poverty and/or sickness. Not one! It is not automatic however.
2 Peter 1:2-4 (NKJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
He, our God, has already given “us all things that pertain to life and godliness” so what is left out of all. What is the qualifier? Knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. This is not just information, head knowledge. This is revelation upon which we act being fully persuaded.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
