Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ and any others seeing what this is all about. Welcome to our study of the precious Bible Book of Isaiah. The featured picture is of a beautiful Church in North Dekota. The purpose of a Church picture is to remind us all of the command from our Lord to continually intercede for our brothers and sisters near and far. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 60:1-5 (KJV)
1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
4 Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.
5 Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.
I will be picking up with verse two of our text today. Have we yet obeyed the command in verse one to arise and shine? When a person stands up, they are more visible to those around them. Are we the light of the world or just singing about it?
Matthew 5:13-16 (KJV)
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Jesus told them that day and us today that we are the salt of the earth. He didn’t say He was the salt, or that the Father was the salt, nor that the Holy Spirit was the salt, and no mention that angels were the salt of the earth. You and I dear ones, the children of God, are the salt of the earth. What are a few of the functions of natural salt? It is a preservative; it keeps things from becoming corrupted. How are we, the body of Christ, doing with that? Salt gives flavor to our foods. Are we giving a Godly flavor to all that we say and do? Salt is also a disinfectant. How are we doing with personal purity and purity in our Churches, local body of Christ?
Is our voice being heard and is it giving light such that saint and sinner alike can see the hidden things of evil? What about the glory of the Lord? Is the manifested goodness (glory) of God evident in our lives? Is the blessing clearly evident in our lives or is the curse as common in the body of Christ as the world? How many sinners are coming to the Church, to each of us individually and asking about our prosperity (yes, abundance of all things [including money]) and our health? How many leaders are coming to the body of Christ seeking solutions to business and governmental issues? The Church (body of Christ) has the solutions for all things. Is there some problem in the earth that the Lord is scratching His head over being completely bewildered? Why are we not dominating all seven spheres of society bringing answers for the good of all people drawing people to the Lord like never before?
We will dear ones, our text prophesies it, but it won’t be this generation without a major mindset change in the body of Christ. Pray that we are not the generation that dies in the wilderness, but the one that enters the Promised Land.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
