THE LORD LOVES JUSTICE
Video link: https://youtu.be/SzmA8AIkiNQ
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word and our enabling study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. We are such a favored people to have the Word of God to light our path. Many of the people we read about in this wonderful Book, the Book that is our life, did not have what we have to guide them but still they did wonderful things. They walked in all the light they had; they were obedient to all of the Word they had. Of course, there were other who did not and their lives, outcomes, are a powerful example for our learning. The featured picture today is the State House in Denver Colorado. This is to remind us to pray for our government. In addition to prayer, we take Spirit led action.
Ezra 7:25-26 (NKJV)
25 And you, Ezra, according to your God-given wisdom, set magistrates and judges who may judge all the people who are in the region beyond the River, all such as know the laws of your God; and teach those who do not know them.
26 Whoever will not observe the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily on him, whether it be death, or banishment, or confiscation of goods, or imprisonment.
Is this still the will of God? Of course it is! Be reminded that the structure of our government with three co-equal branched of government comes right out of Scripture. This guards against an excessive concentration of power in one person’s hand.
Isaiah 33:22 (NKJV)
22 (For the LORD is our Judge, The LORD is our Lawgiver, The LORD is our King; He will save us);
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud. How does faith come?
Isaiah 61:6-9 (NKJV)
6 But you shall be named the priests of the LORD, They shall call you the servants of our God. You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, And in their glory you shall boast.
7 Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; Everlasting joy shall be theirs.
8 “For I, the LORD, love justice; I hate robbery for burnt offering; I will direct their work in truth, And will make with them an everlasting covenant.
9 Their descendants shall be known among the Gentiles, And their offspring among the people. All who see them shall acknowledge them, That they are the posterity whom the LORD has blessed.”
Now, we come to verse eight of our primary text. Our Lord, our God, loves justice and hates (polar opposite) burnt offerings. He is pleased with our obedience and wants that above our having to come in repentance. Let’s look at this eighth verse in the Amplified Version of the Bible.
Isaiah 61:8 (AMP)
8 For I the Lord love justice; I hate robbery and wrong with violence or a burnt offering. And I will faithfully give them their recompense in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant or league with them.
The word “justice” in our text also translated as judgment can be interpreted as doing what was right and just in the Lord’s eyes being far more important than presenting sacrifices to Him according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – Old Testament. As we close for today consider the following passage.
Proverbs 21:2-4 (NKJV)
2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the hearts.
3 To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
4 A haughty look, a proud heart, And the plowing of the wicked are sin.
Repentance and a complete cleansing of sin is freely available to all in the body of Christ. An issue that saddens the Lord is that sin takes us out of His will, out of the Blessing, and into the curse. In that state we cannot function at our highest level pleasing the Father and advancing what is occupied for the Kingdom of God.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
