COVENANT PEOPLE ARE WELL KNOWN

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to The Three Minute Word and our enabling study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. We are such a favored people to have the Word of God to light our path. Many of the people we read about in this wonderful Book, the Book that is our life, did not have what we have to guide them but still they did wonderful things. They walked in all the light they had; they were obedient to all of the Word they had. Of course, there were other who did not and their lives, outcomes, are a powerful example for our learning. The featured picture today is the State House in Hartford Connecticut. This is to remind us to pray for our government. In addition to prayer, we take Spirit led action.
Ezra 7:25-26 (NKJV)
25 And you, Ezra, according to your God-given wisdom, set magistrates and judges who may judge all the people who are in the region beyond the River, all such as know the laws of your God; and teach those who do not know them.
26 Whoever will not observe the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily on him, whether it be death, or banishment, or confiscation of goods, or imprisonment.
Is this still the will of God? Of course it is! Be reminded that the structure of our government with three co-equal branched of government comes right out of Scripture. This guards against an excessive concentration of power in one person’s hand.
Isaiah 33:22 (NKJV)
22 (For the LORD is our Judge, The LORD is our Lawgiver, The LORD is our King; He will save us);
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud, yes, out loud. How does faith come?
Isaiah 61:6-9 (NKJV)
6 But you shall be named the priests of the LORD, They shall call you the servants of our God. You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, And in their glory you shall boast.
7 Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; Everlasting joy shall be theirs.
8 “For I, the LORD, love justice; I hate robbery for burnt offering; I will direct their work in truth, And will make with them an everlasting covenant.
9 Their descendants shall be known among the Gentiles, And their offspring among the people. All who see them shall acknowledge them, That they are the posterity whom the LORD has blessed.”
As we come into verse nine, we see that those with whom God makes everlasting Covenant will be well known, they and their generations to follow. When God approached Abram, later Abraham, to make a Blood Covenant by which He could legally bring Jesus, the Messiah what was one the parts of that Covenant?
Genesis 12:1-3 (NKJV)
1 Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.
2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
In today vernacular God told Abram that He would make him rich and famous. Is our Isaiah text telling us any different? God wants us to be a very visible light for the Kingdom of God. He wants us healthy and mostly rich in this earths good so we can be generous on every occasion. One thing the Church does not seem to understand is that spiritual riches do not exist independent of physical riches. The prosperity of the children of God is the physical expression of prosperity in the spiritual realm. The physical realm or 3rd dimension is controlled by and contained in the 4th dimension or spirit realm. That is spiritual law for saint and sinner alike. The difference is that the saint should far exceed the sinner like Daniel who was found to be 10 times better than the best in Nebuchadnezzars’ kingdom (Daniel 1:20). The Covenant God initiated with Abram/Abraham is ours as well.
Galatians 3:13-14 (NKJV)
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),
14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Galatians 3:29 (NKJV)
29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
