AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH AMERICA – LABOR DAY

Greeting to all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord our God is so good to give us His Word. And if we will choose to listen we have a very close and talkative Savior and Father.
Today is also the Federal Holiday known as Labor Day. As I sat down to write this teaching I asked myself, exactly what are we celebrating today that warrants a Federal Holiday? According to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, Labor Day, is a celebration of the American worker, but at its core it is a celebration of Labor Unions. Labor Day was celebrated as early as 1882 and was established as an official Federal Holiday in September 1887 by President Grover Cleveland.
Should Christians celebrate labor unions? I find no issue with celebrating the American worker so long as we openly recognize that God is the source of the success of the American worker. To celebrate the American worker absent God would be sin, worshiping the creature and not the Creator. Celebrating Labor unions is a devilish idea. America is a covenant nation with God which is the source of our exceptionalism, not some random spark that by serendipity fell on America. Unions are sold as a protection for workers but in reality, are designed for organized rebellion, to control people, and destroy capital. Unions divert attention to themselves and away from the worker and the employing organization. I find no Scriptural basis for celebrating Labor Unions. Unions enslave people causing them to look to the union as their source and thereby the union becomes their god. This violates the first commandment (Exodus 20:3).

1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
This very same God who brought the Israelites of old out of the bondage of Pharaoh and Egypt is the same God that brought us out of bondage to Satan and the world.
