CARNALLY MINDED IS DEATH; BUT TO BE SPIRITUALLY MINDED IS LIFE AND PEACE

Welcome to Awake, Arise, and Triumph Ministries and the ongoing study of the Kingdom of God and repentance. This was the major theme of Jesus’ Ministry in the earth and before that John the Baptist. Of course, the whole Bible speaks to the Laws of the Kingdom of God. In a nutshell, follow Gods’ commands and thrive in the earth with eternal life to follow, do as you please and perish. Let’s move to our anchor Scripture and then into the next teaching from Jesus in the Book of Matthew concerning the Kingdom of God.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Are we doing this? This is a command, and we are fully equipped to do this with excellence and have a fabulous natural life to show for it. A testimony to the world and to those of the Church around about us. There is much Scripture associated with this teaching, please don’t just scurry down through it but meditate each word as you sit before the Lord.
Romans 8:1-6 (KJV)
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
The word “condemnation” in verse one means an adverse sentence or a judgement against not condemnation to Hell. It is an opening of the door to the thief who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. Notice what opens the door to that judgement. It is walking after the flesh and not after the spirit. What does our anchor Scripture tell us? We are told to walk after the spirit and not after the flesh. A violation of Scripture always results in an adverse judgment and an open door to the enemy. A violation of Scripture takes us to some extent or another outside the protective umbrella of Heaven.
Verse five and six remind us again, I might say the consequences of seeking first the things of life and the things of the spirit second. The phrases “carnally minded” and “spiritually minded” have to do with where our focus is. Let’s continue.
Romans 8:13-17 (KJV)
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
TAKE HOME:
- Doing our part in the Kingdom of God and doing it His way with His attitude is job one for every Christian.
- To be carnally minded or focused is death and to be spiritually minded or focused is life and peace. Is this a tough choice? Perhaps we just don’t believe it.
- Being carnally minded is bondage and fraught with fear but being spiritually minded assures us we are children of God, heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ. We are sons of God, let’s act like it.
