Welcome to Awake, Arise, and Triumph Ministries and the ongoing study of the Kingdom of God and repentance. This was the major theme of Jesus’ Ministry in the earth and before that John the Baptist. Of course, the whole Bible speaks to the Laws of the Kingdom of God, how to live and how not to live. In a nutshell, follow Gods’ commands and thrive in the earth with eternal life to follow, do as you please and perish. Let’s move to our anchor Scripture and then into the next teaching from Jesus in the Book of Matthew concerning the Kingdom of God.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Again, let me ask, are we doing this? Do we recognize this as an actionable command? By the way, all of the commands of the Lord are actionable. He has fully equipped us, glory to God. Recently as I was praying the Lord quickened me to a couple of Scriptures to discuss with our anchor Scripture. Today I will discuss the following Scripture from Haggai. Let me remind you that I taught the Book of Haggai the summer and fall of 2014 and you can find that at the website under categories. Now to our Haggai text.
Haggai 1:3-8 (KJV)
3 Then came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,
4 Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?
5 Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD.
You may recall that the Israelites have been released from captivity and even financed by King Cyrus of Babylon to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem. The Word of the Lord in the passage above came to these people some twenty years later in the reign of King Darius. The people have been building their own homes and natural lives and are lazy about the House of God.
Notice in verse five the Lord tells His people to “Consider your ways”. If you ever hear the Lord, say this to you, do you know what is needed? Repentance on the spot. Notice that He points out to them that in spite of their labors they are not prospering the way they should. Why, they have neglected the House of God! God then commands them to get to work on His House, He will take pleasure in it, and His goodness will be shown. Notice they had our anchor Scripture upside down. They were seeking first the things of this natural life and neglecting the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. It was not working for them. Is that approach working for you?
TAKE HOME:
- Where are we spending our time, thought life and the words of our mouths?
- We must remind ourselves of our main purpose in the earth which is to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness until it is our habit. That does not mean we neglect the things of life but that many of them, like our job, is a part of our Ministry, the building the Kingdom of God.
- Let each one of us, consider and judge ourselves concerning our focus. Are we doing Matthew 6:33 or are we doing our thing and that is an add on as time allows?
Lord willing, I will resume right here next Saturday. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
