LIFE IN HEAVEN – PART TEN

TIME FRAME FOUR
LIFE IN HEAVEN – Genesis 3:7 to the Throne (Hebrews 1:3)
Greetings and welcome to this wonderfully enlightening and faith building study. I will now be entering the fourth time-period which takes from the Day of Sin to the day Jesus is seated at the right hand of Majesty on High. This time-period starts off with God administering justice, explaining more about the consequences of sin for mankind and the Serpent. The consequences for Adam and all of mankind were laid out including the need for redemption through the work of the last Adam. Starting in chapter two of Genesis we see the use of the term LORD God and when God speaks to Adam following sin. I am going to take a little sidestep to talk about this for a moment. In the King James Version (translation) of the Scripture when the word ‘LORD’ in all upper-case capital letters is used it is referencing Jehovah the self-existent or eternal One (the One we now call Father). The word LORD is then followed by ‘God’ which from the Hebrew is transliterated to English as ‘Elohim’ then to God in the KJV meaning the supreme God. However, this word is in the plural therefore referring to the Triune God. Let us look at Scripture.
Genesis 3:7-8 (KJV)
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
At the moment Adam and Eve birthed sin (Genesis 3:6) they realized that they were naked both spiritually and physically. Even worse they were separated from God, dead spiritually. The corruption of the Word of God allowed corruption to come to all things and placed all things including man on the road to physical death. In verse seven above we see the prophetic symbol of the coming of the Hebrews and Judaism through which the Messiah would come with the reference to fig leaves. The fig tree in Scripture generally refers to Israel. The Jews birthed of God have provided the route to salvation. Then we see that Adam and Eve heard the voice of the LORD God. They could no longer see Him, spiritual sight was gone with only physical sight remaining. The Scriptural reference that no man has seen God at any time, is referring to fallen man. The predominant person speaking to Adam is the One we call Father (LORD), however, all are present and speaking with one voice to the male Adam, the female Adam, and the serpent.
As we study the Scripture above let me draw our attention to verse eight. The phrase in verse eight: “in the cool of the day” is a mistranslation. That more properly should be translated as a rushing wind. That rushing wind was the Holy Spirit and the Holy Angels stepping away and for the most part exiting the earth. But praise God they returned some four thousand years later, and we again see the rushing wind that filled not only the “upper room” but all the earth in Acts two. God in His mercy gave them and us insight into the awful nature of the curse and starts to reveal the path to a full redemption. The path to mankind’s full redemption, when all would be restored, was illuminated over time. The light of the revelation of redemption was made to shine more brightly until we see it in fullness. Immediately following Adam and Eve’s sin God had a temporary solution for their sin and all mankind to follow until Calvary.
Genesis 3:21 (KJV)
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
The permanent long-term solution would be the transforming of the Word to be a Son who would joyfully go to the Cross and be sacrificed to pay the debt of all mankind’s sin. This sacrifice could only occur if God could find a man with which to covenant and finally that man was found, and his name was Abram, later renamed Abraham. The consummation of that Blood Covenant occurred when Jesus was resurrected from the dead and took His Blood to the Heavenly Mercy Seat.
Since I am talking about life in Heaven let’s bring our thoughts back to Heaven. When we think about Heaven do we imagine the that God has always been sitting stationary on the Throne in the Tabernacle for an unmeasurable time in the past and will do the same into an unmeasurable future? We see God in the earth down through the creation account and even on the Day of Sin. God likes to travel; all things are created for Him and for His pleasure including you and me. As I consider the content of Heaven, I suspect it has been generally the same with innumerable variations on a theme. There has been a notable addition to Heaven since the Cross and that is we once again have free access to Heaven. I will speak on that much more as we proceed, study through the eight time-periods.
God unveils His plans as it becomes important for us to understand. There has always been a House of God which we call a Temple, and there have been the surroundings that please God. These things would be geography (mountains, hills, valleys, streams, and so on). It seems that there has always been animal life and in that I am including sea creatures, creatures of the air, and of land. We have already seen reference to some of these things leading up to this point. Somehow, we have come to believe, imagine, that this creation is somehow different than Heaven when in fact this creation is an extension, a reflection of Heaven itself. The problem today is that what we see in the earth is a pale reflection of the real due to sin, the curse. At the point of sin mankind was excluded from Heaven, the Serpent and his hoards were already expelled from Heaven. Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Saturday. Until our next publication, I speak this Scriptural prayer for your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
2 Peter 1:2-4 (KJV)
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
