WE ARE UNCLEAN

Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to this intriguing and enabling study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. We are such a blessed people to have the Words of God, the thoughts of God to guide our way into all the blessing. Who but our God would know what Words would just as applicable now as then? Who but our God could Anoint all of His Words which when coupled with our faith would bring manifestation? The featured picture is of the State House in Carson City Nevada to remind us to pray for all in authority. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text, in you guess it, the Book of Isaiah. Please continue to read out loud, yes, out loud.
Isaiah 64:4-7 (NKJV)
4 For since the beginning of the world Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him.
5 You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways. You are indeed angry, for we have sinned– In these ways we continue; And we need to be saved.
6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
7 And there is no one who calls on Your name, Who stirs himself up to take hold of You; For You have hidden Your face from us, And have consumed us because of our iniquities.
As we continue today in verse five of our primary Bible text, we find the Prophet acknowledging that God has every right to be angry with them due to sin. What about us? Let’s get a look at this in the Amplified Bible and the New International Version.
Isaiah 64:5 (AMP)
5 You meet and spare him who joyfully works righteousness (uprightness and justice), [earnestly] remembering You in Your ways. Behold, You were angry, for we sinned; we have long continued in our sins [prolonging Your anger]. And shall we be saved?
Isaiah 64:5 (NIV)
5 You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. But when we continued to sin against them, you were angry. How then can we be saved?
The NKJV indicates they needed salvation just as all of us, and the AMP and NIV indicate it as a question of can we be saved. This word “saved” in our text is a verb meaning to save, to help, to deliver, to defend. The underlying idea of this verb is bringing to a place of safety or broad pasture as opposed to a narrow strait, symbolic of distress and danger. The word conveys the notion of deliverance from tribulation; deliverance from certain death; rescue from one’s enemies; victory in time of war; the protective duty of a shepherd; avenging wrongs; compassionate aid in a time of need; the salvation that only comes from God according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – Old Testament. What a deal! Who would not want this deal? The devil has deceived billions of people over the centuries that this is not real. Unfortunately, many in the Church do not believe much of this for it is not evident in their lives. Are we a shining light for the goodness of our God for the world or are we just a religious brand of what they already have?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
