SINCE THE BEGINNING

Greetings precious saints of God and welcome back to this intriguing and enabling study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. We are such a blessed people to have the Words of God, the thoughts of God to guide our way into all the blessing. Who but our God would know what Words would just as applicable now as then? Who but our God could Anoint all of His Words which when coupled with our faith would bring manifestation? The featured picture is of the State House in Lincoln Nebraska to remind us to pray for all in authority. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text, in you guess it, the Book of Isaiah. Please continue to read out loud, yes, out loud.
Isaiah 64:4-7 (NKJV)
4 For since the beginning of the world Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him.
5 You meet him who rejoices and does righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways. You are indeed angry, for we have sinned– In these ways we continue; And we need to be saved.
6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
7 And there is no one who calls on Your name, Who stirs himself up to take hold of You; For You have hidden Your face from us, And have consumed us because of our iniquities.
As we plunge into verse four, we find the phrase “since the beginning”. This is not referring to the beginning of the world as in Genesis 1:1. The word translated as “beginning” in Genesis 1:1 is an entirely different word with a different meaning. To get a little more insight lets look at this verse in Young’s Literal Translation.
Isaiah 64:4 (YLT)
4 Even from antiquity men have not heard, They have not given ear, Eye hath not seen a God save Thee, He doth work for those waiting for Him.
Men (and women) of all generations have heard, physically, the Word of God but many have not chosen to listen to understand (have revelation) and to do. It is always our choice dear ones. The hearing and seeing in this verse have to do with the giving of attention, focus, to understand. In other words, many have not taken the Word of God seriously. What about you and me? Due to this lack of giving serious attention to the Word of God many have missed out, not only receiving, but even understanding what the Lord has for those who wait upon Him. The word “waits” means to wait in order to accomplish one’s purpose, good or bad according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – Old Testament. In the case of the Lord, it is always good.
Isaiah goes on to say that God will meet with those who rejoice in the Lord and do righteousness. The word “meet” here is more than you and I coming close in some social gathering, it has to do with coming in contact with as in touching or to fall upon as in the Anointing. The implication of the touching is not transient as in a hug of handshake but continuous. This of course is not true just for that time but now as well. Today, if we are born again the Holy Spirit is in us and if we are baptized in the Holy Spirit He is upon us but not in manifestation if the Lord is not our joy, our righteousness, and we are not walking in His ways. As we further examine verse five of our text, let’s ask ourselves if we remember His ways and do them.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
