GENEROUS ON EVERY OCCASION

Once again, we will be diving into this really popular topic of offerings (sarcasm) but first let’s review our anchor Scripture.
Nehemiah 12:44 (KJV)
44 And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.
I finished the teaching yesterday with the following passage. Let us carefully examine, and meditate upon, the Scripture, the will of God.
2 Corinthians 9:6-11 (NIV)
6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
9 As it is written: “He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.”
10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.
11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
Did you fully notice that verses six and seven are the keys, the qualifiers to the remainder of the passage. If we are not seeing verses eight through eleven manifest in our lives perhaps, we are not satisfying the qualifiers. Let’s examine our hearts and ask God about it. Remember it is all by faith, in love (agapē/agapaō), led of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will NEVER lead any of us other than by the Word of God. Let us talk for a moment about faith and finish up.
Romans 14:23 (KJV)
23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
The following passage again confirms the Law of Sowing and Reaping.
Galatians 6:7-10 (KJV)
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
The whole Scripture tells us over and again the harvest of disobedience and the harvest of obedience. Sowing and reaping is a basic fundamental law. Let’s look at two examples from Scripture of sowing and receiving a harvest. Of course, this principle or law, both spiritual and physical, is well known to farmers, all of us if we think about it.
TAKE HOME:
- Do you believe God will and do you see your supply of seed increasing and your personal finances increasing? What might be the cause if not? Find the qualifiers.
- Do you understand that the circumstances of your life today is the result of the seeds you have sown (words spoken).
- What do you say we start sowing the Promises of God in faith as we walk in love.
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
