YOUR TREASURE AND YOUR HEART ARE TOGETHER

Once again, we will be diving into this really popular topic of offerings (sarcasm) but first let’s review our anchor Scripture.
Nehemiah 12:44 (KJV)
44 And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.
Today I will again pick up with the Freewill Offering and conclude this section. I sure hope that all of us are receiving and absorbing this extraordinary Truth. If you are afraid and become angered concerning offerings and discussion of money you have received wrong teaching, done inadequate study, and don’t really love, or trust God. That may seem a little heavy, harsh, but it is the Truth. Read the following passage in context and its entirety.
Luke 12:31-34 (KJV)
31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
It is all about our focus, all about our heart.
Luke 18:27-30 (KJV)
27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
28 Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.
29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake,
30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.
It has never been the will of God for His people to be poor in any way or to have just enough! We are to be a very bright light to the world and to others in the body of Christ. Perhaps someone (of the demon behind them) just exclaimed “but Jesus was poor and I’m just like Jesus”! When Jesus came to earth, He was poor when compared to Heaven. He was not poor during His earthly Ministry. There is no record, zero, of He and His disciples sleeping outside, begging, or even taking up an offering, going without, or being sick. He was poor on the Cross taking our poverty and giving us riches of every type. Prosperity, abundance here and now is a part of the salvation package.
2 Corinthians 8:9 (AMP)
9 For you are becoming progressively acquainted with and recognizing more strongly and clearly the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (His kindness, His gracious generosity, His undeserved favor and spiritual blessing), [in] that though He was [so very] rich, yet for your sakes He became [so very] poor, in order that by His poverty you might become enriched (abundantly supplied).
TAKE HOME:
- This offering at its origin was for the building and maintenance of the Tabernacle, today our places where the body of Christ meets.
- This offering, all offerings, must be given from a willing, eager, joyous heart. All offerings are a heart issue and a reflection of ones love (agapē/agapaō) of God and others.
- We are all called to be generous but to expect generosity from others.
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
