FREEWILL OFFERINGS

Once again, we will be diving into this really popular topic of offerings (sarcasm) but first let’s review our anchor Scripture.
Nehemiah 12:44 (KJV)
44 And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.
Once again, I am picking up the teaching about Tithing. Notice the words God commanded to be spoken when bringing the tithe.
Deuteronomy 26:12-13 (KJV)
12 When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;
13 Then thou shalt say before the LORD thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of mine house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them:
The tithe is for the sufficiency of the House of God, the day-to-day operations. All of the Levites were paid, there was no volunteers or the so called unpaid “helps ministry”.
Now I will move forward into the Freewill Offering. As we move into this section of teaching, I want to remind all of us that there are no physical manifestations that don’t have a spiritual origin. It always happens in the spirit realm before manifesting in the physical realm. The pattern, the Truth, is established right from the beginning.
Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
The Words of God’s mouth which are spirit just like ours caused all of the physical creation. Remember Jesus in the earth as a man said that His words were spirit and life and so are ours.
John 6:63 (KJV)
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
As an aside, let us ask ourselves, what kind of words am I speaking? All words originate in the spirit realm but are we speaking death or life? Back to Freewill Offerings. Let’s take a look at the first mention of a Freewill Offering. Like all offerings, none are to be rote, tradition or viewed as being given under duress but with a willing heart. A willing heart is an eager to do it, joyful heart.
Exodus 35:5
Take ye from among you an offering unto the Lord: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the Lord; gold, and silver, and brass,
Notice the qualifier for this offering is a willing heart. The purpose of the Freewill Offering is for the building and maintenance of the Tabernacle and so it is today.
TAKE HOME:
- The Freewill Offering is a commandment but like the other offerings requires a willing heart for one to benefit.
- The Freewill Offering is for the building and maintenance of the Tabernacle, today the Meeting House.
- Are our words giving life or death? All words are spirit, all words are seeds, what kind of a crop have we planted?
