ARE YOU PARTAKING OF THE PROMISED LAND OR JUST SINGING ABOUT IT?

Welcome to Awake, Arise, and Triumph Ministries and part-two of a brand-new Bible Study titled “The Salvation Package”. I was quickened to this topic, this idea, a few weeks ago and asked myself and the Lord what does salvation mean. What does it mean to be saved. It seems to me that a common understanding is that when one is saved, they are going to Heaven not Hell when they die. It seems that the common message conveyed is that when we give our heart to the Lord, we go to Heaven someday, and in the meantime, we are to develop our character to be more like Jesus. Is that all that salvation or being saved means?
As an aside, the image I am using for this teaching should not be taken to represent the entry to Heaven although that is included but entry into the glorious Kingdom of God, of Light at salvation. The glory of God is the goodness of God and nothing speaking of the goodness of God more than the gift of salvation.
One of the first images I got in my mind concerning this topic is the Children of Israel as they crossed the Jordan River and stood on the Promised Land side of the Jordan. As they stood there the whole of the Promised Land is before them. Let’s look at this passage of Scripture. It is a lengthy text but let’s take a look at it and remember your salvation, your entry into the Promised Land was no less miraculous.
Joshua 3:13-17 (KJV)
13 And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an heap.
14 And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people;
15 And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)
16 That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.
17 And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.
You may recall that this nation about to enter the Promised Land is another generation for the generation that came out of Egypt would not enter. Why didn’t they enter? Fear! They heard of the giants and walled cities and saw themselves insufficient to occupy the land. Of course, in the natural perhaps they were insufficient to occupy the land but with the Word of God and His Spirit with them, they like us, are more than able to not only occupy the land but take possession of all the resources of the land.
TAKE HOME:
- As we stand on the wilderness side of Jordan, we see the priest with the terms of the Blood Covenant holding back the obstacles to the Promised Land.
- Have we received the invitation of the priest, not only Jesus the High Priest, but the earthly priests in our lives, and do we believe the and accept the terms of the Blood Covenant?
- Are we gazing past the river Jordan into the Promised Land, the promises of God, with faith and excitement or in trepidation?
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
