SAINTS, SINNERS, AND THOSE WITH AUDACITY

Greetings dear saints of God and any who will become saints of God. The Bible calls all those who belong to God saints, both Old and New Testament.
Psalm 30:4 (KJV)
4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
Here is the meaning of “saint” in the Old Testament. It is an adjective meaning kind, benevolent, merciful, pious. The word carries the essential idea of the faithful kindness and piety that springs from mercy according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – Old Testament. Well, what about the New Testament.
Romans 1:7 (KJV)
7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Here is the meaning of “saint” in the New Testament. It is to be holy [pure, faithful], set apart, sanctified, consecrated. It has a common root, hág–, with hagnós <G53> meaning chaste, pure. Its fundamental idea is separation, consecration, devotion to the service of Deity, sharing in God’s purity and abstaining from earth’s defilement according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – New Testament. There is no extra charge for this little side teaching (smile). Now, to our study of the Kingdom of God and our anchor Scripture.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Do we see this as a command or a laudable (praiseworthy, admirable, commendable) goal? It is a command. If the Lord Jesus said it, commanded it, in His earthly Ministry and He only said what the Father told Him to say we are fully able. It would be unjust for God to command something we are incapable of doing, not authorized to do, not equipped to do. Is our God unjust? Now, let us more to
Matthew 20:20-23 (KJV)
20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.
21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.
22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.
You might agree that “the mother of Zebedee’s children” and the children had a degree of chutzpah (extreme self-confidence or audacity). I will pick with more about this passage and the Kingdom of God tomorrow.
TAKE HOME:
- A saint is faithful to be kind, benevolent, merciful, and righteousness that springs from mercy, the mercy of God towards us. It also includes being holy [pure, faithful], set apart for God’s purposes which by the way are our purposes.
- We discovered that there are things which Jesus, although the second person of God, does not control or have authority over. One example that come to mind is in our text, the other is that He does not know the time of His return.
- Contrary to what many might think, there are rankings in the Kingdom of God, both here in the earth and in Heaven the ages to come.
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
