ARE YOU HEARING FAITH OR DOUBT?

Welcome back to this ongoing study of the Kingdom of God. This was a main focus of Jesus’ teaching and doing and thus should be ours as well. Jesus was the sample son, the One who showed the Church to be born on Resurrection Day how to operate. We are sons in our order to build the family name, the name of Jesus, the Kingdom of God. Jesus commanded that we were to do as He did and even greater things (John 14:12). Why? He has gone to the Father, and we are here to do the work of God, of the Kingdom of God. I will now review our primary text for this study then move into our Scriptures for today.
Matthew 6:33 (NKJV)
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
I am sure you remember all too well, this is a command. Are you, am I doing it? Moving ahead, let’s dive into our study which will focus on Mark 4:30 but we will look at context as well.
Mark 4:30-34 (KJV)
30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.
33 And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.
34 But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.
Jesus in teaching His disciples then and us now used many agricultural examples, things understood in an agricultural society and should be understood by most even those not involved in farming. Jesus is telling us how the Kingdom of God operates. Remember it is a kingdom and has a king and operates or is regulated by laws. Whether someone obeys and works with those laws is according to freewill just as we decide every day about the laws of the land in which we live. The general law being put forth in this and preceding passages is that of sowing and reaping. Jesus is telling us that even what seems to be a very tiny seed (the thing sown) can result in a harvest that blesses many. Last week we looked at the following passage.
Mark 4:26-29 (KJV)
26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
All physical manifestations in this material realm have a spiritual origin. In the Mark 4:26-29 passage recall that the seed is the Word of God (spiritual) coupled with a physical thing (usually money) sown into a Ministry or even a person by faith for a desired result. The ground is our heart. Are we in faith. The spiritual seed, Word of God declared over the physical seed sown determines what is harvested but the ground determines how much is harvested. Remember the “Parable of the Sower” where those with good ground reaped 30, 60, and 100-fold. The difference in reaping depended upon the ground. Now, remember that the preceding passages comes on the heels of the admonishment to pay attention to what we are hearing.
Mark 4:23-25 (KJV)
23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
What are you hearing, thinking about, and speaking out of your own mouth? Is it building faith in a desired Kingdom of God outcome or is it saturated with doubt?
TAKE HOME:
- Remember we are part of a kingdom, we have a king, and this kingdom operates or is regulated by laws. Whether someone obeys and works with those laws is according to freewill just as we decide every day about the laws of the land in which we live.
- The spiritual seed, Word of God declared over the physical seed sown determines what is harvested but the ground determines how much is harvested. Remember the “Parable of the Sower” where those with good ground reaped 30, 60, and 100-fold. The difference in reaping depended upon the ground.
- What are you hearing, thinking about, and speaking out of your own mouth? Is it building faith in a desired Kingdom of God outcome or is it saturated with doubt?
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
