MAGIC ARTS VERSUS THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Welcome dear ones back to our study of the Kingdom of God. Thanksgiving is behind and Christmas looms just ahead. A wonderful time of year for many and a dark time of year for others. At the risk of seeming cruel or uncaring being depressed this time of year is a choice. If you are a Christian, truly born again there is much to be thankful for no matter the circumstances that you may have let in or that threaten you. And of course there is much to rejoice about concerning Christmas, the day chosen to celebrate the birth of our Savior, the Messiah. Now let’s turn our attention to our topic and our anchor Scripture.
Matthew 6:33 (AMP)
33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.
This is a command from the Master, our Lord, our King, our Advocate, our Intercessor, our High Priest, Savior. This does not mean we go around quoting Scripture all day, but it does mean we do all as unto the Lord with excellence according to Scripture. The payoff is that the natural things of this world will come to us without painful toil and sweat. That is not to say we won’t be involved, we certainly will but it will come easily. Take a look at what Jesus said in another place.
Matthew 11:29-30 (AMP)
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls.
30 For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good—not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne.
Now, let’s jump into our teaching Scripture for today. This is lengthy, read it slowly, and thoughtfully.
Acts 8:5-13 (AMP)
5 Philip [the deacon, not the apostle] went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed the Christ (the Messiah) to them [the people];
6 And great crowds of people with one accord listened to and heeded what was said by Philip, as they heard him and watched the miracles and wonders which he kept performing [from time to time].
7 For foul spirits came out of many who were possessed by them, screaming and shouting with a loud voice, and many who were suffering from palsy or were crippled were restored to health.
8 And there was great rejoicing in that city.
9 But there was a man named Simon, who had formerly practiced magic arts in the city to the utter amazement of the Samaritan nation, claiming that he himself was an extraordinary and distinguished person.
10 They all paid earnest attention to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is that exhibition of the power of God which is called great (intense).
11 And they were attentive and made much of him, because for a long time he had amazed and bewildered and dazzled them with his skill in magic arts.
12 But when they believed the good news (the Gospel) about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ (the Messiah) as Philip preached it, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Even Simon himself believed [he adhered to, trusted in, and relied on the teaching of Philip], and after being baptized, devoted himself constantly to him. And seeing signs and miracles of great power which were being performed, he was utterly amazed.
You and I already knew that witchcraft, the practice of the dark arts is no match for the name of Jesus and the Power of God. This Scripture drives that knowledge a little deeper. Roots going down and faith going up. When I say that the demons, even Satan himself, are no match for the Power of God (Holy Spirit) with the authority of Jesus on our lips it’s not even close. The demons, Satan himself have no authority since the Cross except when people give them authority. Likewise, they have no power except when we cede our resistance to their lies. It’s nothing like the movies dear ones. We are seated far above all demons and all names in the earth in Christ Jesus, seated with Christ Jesus (the same seat), at the right hand of the Father. You can’t get any safer than this dear ones, believe it and confess it doubting not.
TAKE HOME:
- Do all with excellence the Kingdom of God way and to manifest His glory.
- The yoke and the burden of the Kingdom of God is easy and light.
- The demons are no match for the yielded sons of God.
Lord willing, I will resume right here Saturday tomorrow is the Jewish Feast or Celebration of Hanukkah. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
