Greetings to all reading this blog and welcome to this teaching Ministry and online Church. The Lord is good dear ones. I have been teaching about The Kingdom of God for some time; this is lesson number one-hundred twenty-eight. Teaching and demonstrating the Kingdom of God and His way of doing was by far the main thrust of Jesus earthly Ministry and is to continue through us. Now, let’s review our anchor Scripture and then move into our teaching Scripture for today.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
As I have pointed out several times this is not a suggestion like something nice to do, it is a command. Of course, as freewill beings we choose whether to do it or not and how much to do. God will back up any and all choices we chose. If you have any interest in pleasing your Heavenly Father, in pleasing your Savior, I suggest you do it with all of your heart. The Lord will guide you and me by His Spirit into all the Truth and then help us walk in it. As we walk in it, we receive the rewards of righteousness which believe me are far better than the rewards of unrighteousness. The rewards of righteousness are all of the good things of the Kingdom of God. There are no bad things in the Kingdom of God. The rewards of unrighteous living is the stealing, killing, and destroying that comes by the hand of the evil ones, never the Hand of God. We, and we alone, are the ones that open the door, the access for the thief. Now, let’s move to our teaching Scripture passage for today, focused on verse twenty.
1 Corinthians 4:18-21 (KJV)
18 Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.
19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.
20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
21 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?
We see in this passage that there are people at Corinth that are puffed up. This puffed up means they are proud, full of pride, and talking above and beyond their spiritual capacity. Remember, God resists the proud but gives Grace (the work of His Holy Spirit) to the humble (James 4:6, 1 Peter 5:5). Which group do you want to be in? The Apostle Paul tells the recipients of this letter that if the Lord wills he will be visiting with them shortly. When he does visit, he will not be coming pride but humility and not with high soaring speech but the Power of God. Paul is not devaluing the Word of God, the Logos, but is telling them that the Kingdom of God is not in word only but in the Power of God. This is the exact model that Jesus walked in His earthly Ministry. This is to be our mode of operation as well.
Mark 16:20 (KJV)
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
Remember this account of Philip an evangelist and an administrator of the early Church.
Acts 8:12-13 (KJV)
12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
Same pattern as Jesus, same pattern as Paul. He preached and miracles followed. Come on Church let’s build our faith in the Word of God and get about the business of the Kingdom as sons of God. Let’s quit this playing Church and manufacturing false teaching to account for absolute powerlessness.
TAKE HOME:
- There never was a time for playing Church and it certainly is not now. Get rid of the traditions of men, the doctrines of demons, and the sacred cows, and start studying the Bible and doing it.
- We are to come not in Word only but in the Power of God.
- Renounce the pride of worldly Church puffed up with titles.
Lord willing, I will resume right here tomorrow. Remember, we love you, the Lord loves you, and there is nothing you can do about either one.
