A MESSAGE CONCERNING JERUSALEM

Greetings dear and precious saints of our God, the only Living God, and His Son the only way of salvation and welcome back to our Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah. As we move forward, please take a moment and share this teaching by all means available to you expanding our reach with good news of the Kingdom of God. The featured picture today is of Donna and me near Austin Texas last fall. God is so good dear ones, and He is nothing but good! He is NEVER the instigator of troubles in our lives. Troubles come or present themselves to us as a result of this cursed world/earth, demonic activities, and demonic lies. The only troubles that may come into our lives are the ones we ourselves let in, or give place too. We give place by turning aside to other words, other gods.
Deuteronomy 28:14-15 (NLT)
14 You must not turn away from any of the commands I am giving you today, nor follow after other gods and worship them.
15 “But if you refuse to listen to the LORD your God and do not obey all the commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come and overwhelm you:
So, who makes the decision for the curse rather than the blessings? It is clear that we ourselves choose the blessing or the curse. We ourselves turn aside to other words which puts us following another god. Why do so many keep choosing the curse? You know the answer.
James 1:13-17 (KJV)
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Did you notice verse fourteen? Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Scripture text in the Book of Isaiah. Remember, continue to read out loud.
Isaiah 22:1-7 (NLT)
1 This message came to me concerning Jerusalem—the Valley of Vision: What is happening? Why is everyone running to the rooftops?
2 The whole city is in a terrible uproar. What do I see in this reveling city? Bodies are lying everywhere, killed not in battle but by famine and disease.
3 All your leaders have fled. They surrendered without resistance.
The people tried to slip away, but they were captured, too.
4 That’s why I said, “Leave me alone to weep; do not try to comfort me. Let me cry for my people as I watch them being destroyed.”
5 Oh, what a day of crushing defeat! What a day of confusion and terror brought by the Lord, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, upon the Valley of Vision! The walls of Jerusalem have been broken,
and cries of death echo from the mountainsides.
6 Elamites are the archers, with their chariots and charioteers.
The men of Kir hold up the shields.
7 Chariots fill your beautiful valleys, and charioteers storm your gates.
The Scripture makes clear that this prophetic Word is to Jerusalem but it is not clear exactly when this carnage will take place. It seems to be written in past tense however given verse six and that the Elamites are the ones responsible it appears future. The Elamites are from the area now Iran and the general area of Kuwait north and slightly east of the Persian Gulf. To me this more like places the fulfillment as future and likely in the time of the Great Tribulation just before Armageddon. Could it be this time described by Zechariah which is immediately followed by the Second Coming (not the Rapture) of the Lord of Hosts.
Zechariah 14:1-2 (KJV)
1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
