THE BURDEN UPON ARABIA

Greetings precious children of our Heavenly Father, joint-heirs with Christ Jesus, and empowered by the Blessing. Before I move forward, please take a moment and share this teaching by every means available to you expanding our reach with the gospel. The picture used for the last several Isaiah teachings represents the Prophet Isaiah. I am doing this, at least for now, due to the ongoing issue with other pictures not transferring from WordPress to Facebook. Please continue reading aloud as we examine our primary Bible text for today.
Isaiah 21:13-17 (KJV)
13 The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim.
14 The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.
15 For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.
16 For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:
17 And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken it.
It is not clear (to me) what happened between Solomon and Isaiah to bring judgment upon Arabia.
2 Chronicles 9:14 (KJV)
14 Beside that which chapmen and merchants brought. And all the kings of Arabia and governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.
When I say it is not clear, what I mean is that the details are not available. Sin is at the core of all judgment or wrath. In one way or another the kings, the people, of Arabia became a source of discontent to God’s people. Remember the following verse always lets us know who is at work. If the thief is at work, then unrepented sin preceded the judgment.
John 10:10 (KJV)
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
When I use the term judgment, I am not referring to the Judgment Seat of Christ or the White Throne Judgment but the day-to-day judgments in all of our lives or the coming of a judgment that has accumulated over time concerning a whole people. For example, remember that God told Abram that he and his descendants could not have the “Promised Land” yet, because the sin of the Amorites was not yet full.
Genesis 15:16 (KJV)
16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
Our God is so merciful but there comes a tipping point when justice (judgment) must come, that is a manifestation of love, and justice. In God there is no partiality, however He has given us mercy and the wonderful gifts of repentance and forgiveness.
Matthew 12:41-42 (KJV)
41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
Lord willing, I will pick up tomorrow with Isaiah chapter twenty-two. Also, remember we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
