A WELL OF TRUTH
HE HEARS – WE ALREADY HAVE

Greetings dear and precious saints, all those who are friends and partners of Eastern Gate Ministries International, Inc. All are welcome back to A Well of Truth, this week dealing with “He Hears – We Already Have”. Please take a moment before we delve into this teaching to share as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. Sharing is so important to this Ministry but more importantly the Kingdom of God. Please be sure you are reading out loud.
Have you ever been reading a Scripture that maybe you have read dozens, perhaps even hundreds, of times and something in a verse, revelation, just jumps out at you? I suspect it has happened to you and what a wonderful experience to have. This is a sign of a person pressing into a personal relationship with God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). This happened to me a short time ago with the following passage.
1 John 5:14-15 (KJV)
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
Did anything jump out at you just now? The phrase I am referring to is in verse fifteen: “we know that we have”. The tense here is present active. We have what right now whatever we were talking to the Lord about. Do we have it in physical manifestation at that moment, most likely not, but does that mean we don’t have it? Some might say: “if I don’t have it, can’t see it, I’m not going to lie and say I have it”. So, are you calling the Lord a liar? In the passage above this is God speaking through the Apostle John saying that we have it.
Verse fourteen starts off talking about having confidence in Him. The word confidence could also be translated, faith, belief, trust, or reliance. We have all, I think, heard that God and His Word are inseparable. How does one gain confidence or faith in the word of a person? When they have come to know the character of the person either from first hand experience or reports from reliable sources. So, it seems that confidence or faith in the person comes first and then in their words. What I am getting at is this. Our focus needs to be on the person of God and not just on the written Words of God. We have seen this elsewhere.
Mark 11:22 (KJV)
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
Notice that Jesus says to “Have faith in God” not in the Word of God. This is not to say we don’t have faith in the Word, but must first have faith in the person of God and then we will have real faith in the Word of God. As we move forward let’s focus on the word “ask”. Many see this as begging God concerning this or that. We have already inherited all of the Kingdom of God; we are possessors not beggars. We are joint-heirs in and with Christ Jesus of all things. Yes, right now. This word “ask” transliterated from the Greek and translated to English as “ask” means to ask (in general), beg, call for, crave, desire, or require according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Think of it like cashing a check at the bank to obtain your own money or putting in a requestion for something in a company you own.
When we ask according to Scripture, He hears us. This word heareth or hears is a legal term. If we are asking something out of line with Scripture, He does not hear us. Think of it this way, suppose you are at a table and you ask for the peas but there are no peas (it is not in Scripture as His will for us), you will not be receiving any peas. When people say that God’s answer to our prayers is sometimes no they do not know Scripture. It is no when it is out of line with the will of God.
James 4:3 (KJV)
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
2 Corinthians 1:20 (KJV)
20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
This brings us to the phrase that jumped out at me “we have the petitions”. When we call for one of God’s promises in faith, we have it when we pray whether it is in manifestation or not. Listen (you are reading out loud, right?) to Jesus.
Mark 11:23-24 (KJV)
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Believe you receive them (the thing or things desired) when you pray is the command of our Lord and Savior. The thanksgiving starts before manifestation and continues all the days of our lives.
Jeremiah 1:12 (KJV)
12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
Trust Him and the Words of His mouth, then do whatever is needed to bring the thing into manifestation. Yes, there will be something for you to do. Lord willing, I will return next Sunday with fresh revelation.
