A WELL OF TRUTH
THE BLESSING OF ABRAHAM – PART TWO

Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to drawing from A Well of Truth. Today we will continue looking at the Blessing of Abraham. As we prepare to dive into our teaching, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible by every means available to you. Thank you for sharing. Also, remember to be reading out loud. The featured picture is a well with lots of water and bucket full of water about to be drawn from that well. The water is the Word of God that gives life (zōē Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary, life as God knows life) and cleanses. Let’s start this study by going to some familiar Scriptures and expand from there.
Galatians 3:13-14 (KJV)
13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Galatians 3:29 (KJV)
29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Last Sunday I spent quite a bit of time dealing with how we are redeemed from the curse. I pointed out that the original law of sin and death was done away with by Christ.
Genesis 2:17 (KJV)
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
When Adam and Eve sinned, they died instantly spiritually and death spiritual and physical entered the earth for all creation. Sin brought death, and the curse, and still does. However, in Christ Jesus we are free of the law of sin and death. In Christ Jesus, in the name of Jesus, we have total dominion over death and the curse. Sin allows the curse and physical death. Again, read Deuteronomy 28 really carefully. The devils will present curse and death options to us. Don’t chose sin, chose righteousness. The only reason any curse is any of our lives is sin, not walking totally in the Truth. Walking totally in the Truth is not just knowing the Word of God but doing the Word in total submission to God. Unfortunately, much of what we believe is not the Truth and will maintain the curse and an early death in our lives. We must study to show ourselves approved of God, be good Bereans. Now let’s pick up with the blessing of Abraham and the Genesis text from last week.
Genesis 12:1-3 (KJV)
1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
First, we see that Abram had to separate from the place he lived and the family with which he lived. There is of course a spiritual application of this as well. As Christians we leave our first father, Satan, and his kingdom, and are joined to the Kingdom of our new Father, God.
2 Corinthians 6:16-18 (KJV)
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
So, it is no different for us than Abram, later Abraham. As we will see next week Abram did not totally obey, what about you and me? Contemplate the following passage and Lord willing, we will pick up with it next Sunday.
Genesis 13:14-18 (KJV)
14 And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
18 Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
