A WELL OF TRUTH
WHAT ABOUT THE RAIN? – PART TWO

Greetings dear and precious saints of God, my brothers and sisters in our elder Brother Christ Jesus. Welcome back to A Well of Truth. The Holy Scripture, the Bible, is The Well of Truth. Before we move forward, please take a moment to share this teaching by every available means available to you. This assists us in broadening our reach with the good news of the Kingdom of God. Thank you for sharing.
For years I have looked at, confessed, and thanked God for the outpouring of His rain in Joel chapter two and the restoration this rain brings. Perhaps you like myself have heard this rain described as being outpourings of the Holy Spirit, first in the “Old Covenant” and second in the “New Covenant”. On the other hand, I have always seen this rain as an outpouring of the Word of God. A couple of weeks ago the Lord prompted me to study the Joel text a little deeper.
Joel 2:23-27 (KJV)
23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil.
25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.
Let me point out one very salient fact or Truth at the very beginning of this discussion. The Holy Spirit only moves in response to the Word of God in God’s mouth or in our mouth. The Holy Spirit (3rd person of God) is not just going here there and everywhere doing whatever seems good to Him. Because we have authority in the earth, He only moves upon the Words in our mouths. I capitalized Words to signify the Word of God in our mouth, the will of God, by the leadership of the Holy Spirit (from the Father). Other words cause the Holy Spirit and Holy Angels to just step back and now we are in the arena of the demons. The thoughts of our minds (not brain) and words of our mouths determine the course of our lives be it good or bad, in line with the will of God or the deceptions of the demons. Back to our text and let us focus in on verse twenty-three.
Joel 2:23 (KJV)
23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
Last week I discussed the first mention of rain in this verse. We found that it had to do with teaching of the Word of God, and teaching by the Holy Spirit. One device we use in analyzing Scripture is to look at the first use of a word.
Psalm 84:6 (KJV)
6 Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.
Psalm 84:6 (AMP)
6 Passing through the Valley of Weeping (Baca), they make it a place of springs; the early rain also fills [the pools] with blessings.
Even in a time of weeping, distress, the Word of God will bring refreshing, blessings. Now the second mention of rain is a different Hebrew word. Strong’s number 1653 is the Hebrew word transliterated as Geshem meaning a shower and the root word meaning to shower violently according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. This is a heavy downpour, the early rain and the latter rain (spring and fall), the Word of the Old Testament and the Word of the New Testament. The first use of this Hebrew word is in the flood of Noah where the waters covered the earth.
Genesis 7:12 (KJV)
12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
We are in the day for the knowledge (Word of God) of the goodness of God to cover the earth as the waters cover the sea.
Habakkuk 2:14 (KJV)
14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Sunday.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
