A WELL OF TRUTH
WHAT ABOUT THE RAIN?

Greetings dear and precious saints of God, my brothers and sisters in our elder Brother Christ Jesus. Welcome back to A Well of Truth. The Holy Scripture, the Bible, is The Well of Truth. Before we move forward, please take a moment to share this teaching by every available means available to you. This assists us in broadening our reach with the good news of the Kingdom of God. Thank you for sharing.
For years I have looked at, spoken, and thanked God for the outpouring of His rain in Joel chapter two and the restoration this rain brings. Perhaps you like myself have heard this rain described as being outpourings of the Holy Spirit, first in the “Old Covenant” and second in the “New Covenant”. On the other hand, I have always seen this rain as an outpouring of the Word of God. A couple of weeks ago the Lord prompted me to study the Joel text a little deeper.
Joel 2:23-27 (KJV)
23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil.
25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.
Let me point out one very salient fact or Truth at the very beginning of this discussion. The Holy Spirit only moves in response to the Word of God in God’s mouth or in our mouth. The Holy Spirit (3rd person of God) is not just going here there and everywhere doing whatever seems good to Him. Because we have authority in the earth, He only moves upon the Words in our mouths. I capitalized Words to signify the Word of God in our mouth, the will of God, by the leadership of the Holy Spirit (from the Father). Other words cause the Holy Spirit and Holy Angels to just step back and now we are in the arena of the demons. The thoughts of our minds (not brain) and words of our mouths determine the course of our lives be it good or bad, in line with the will of God or the deceptions of the demons. Back to our text and let us focus in on verse twenty-three.
Joel 2:23 (KJV)
23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
You will notice in the KJV that the word ‘rain’ appears four times. Three different Hebrew words are used in this text and we will look at all three as well as other Bible translations. The first appearance of the word ‘rain’ is Strong’s Concordance Hebrew number 4175, môreh meaning teacher or teaching from the root meaning to flow as water and to teach according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. I think we can see that this rain is a teaching rain that flows like water. The Master Teacher is the Holy Spirit. And what does He teach primarily?
John 14:26 (KJV)
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 16:13 (KJV)
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
John 14:6 (KJV)
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The primary thing the Holy Spirit teaches us is the Word of God, teaches us about the Word, Jesus Christ. As you can see we are not near done with this study, therefore I will pick up with it next Sunday Lord willing.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Receive the blessing in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (MSG)
24 GOD bless you and keep you,
25 GOD smile on you and gift you,
26 GOD look you full in the face and make you prosper.
