ALIVE, POWERFUL, AND SHARP
Tuesday – September 26, 2017

The Word of God is alive, the Word of God gives us our life physical and spiritual, the Word of God is all sufficient. Let us continue with this wonderful Bible Study from the Book of Hebrews. God is so good.
Hebrews 4:10-13 (KJV)
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
I trust that now after several days of talking about the rest of God that we have all made the conscious decision to enter and remain in that rest provided for us all. God provided for Adam just the same as He had provided for Himself. Ladies and gentlemen, He has provided no less for us. We are steeped in unbelief due to the traditions of men, the doctrine of devils. We must be diligent with the Word of God and search out every facet of what we believe proving it to be so or not. Am I, are you a Berean?
Acts 17:11 (KJV)
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
We find a very interesting comparison in Hebrews 4:12. There is a statement telling us that the Word of God is alive, energetic, and with one stroke or exposure gets to the core of our thoughts and motivations. Let’s take a look at the Amplified Translation.
Hebrews 4:12 (AMP)
12 For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.
In the human body, it is difficult to tell where the bone marrow ends and the bone starts and visa versa (see picture). Likewise, it is equally challenging in the spirit realm, our spiritual body, to discern the border between the soul and spirit. Our Scripture goes on to tell us that this is important for this discerns or sorts out our thoughts from the intents or motivations of the heart (decision maker). The heart is a critical part of our mind which is a part of our spirit man. In this case the soul appears to refer to the whole spiritual body. We can see here a vital aspect of how we function. Our thoughts and the motivations of our thoughts and life are in separate areas of our spiritual body. As I am sure we all understand, sometimes we are unaware of our true intents or motivations. It is so important that we be brutally honest with ourselves as we evaluate our motivations, what are we looking for in terms of the end result. Will our thoughts and intents further the Kingdom of God or do they in some way further our agenda and we have reasoned that it helps God as well or even primarily.
Sometimes we conduct our lives as if we are alone and no one knows the content and intents of our heart. There is One who is always, at all times, aware of our thoughts and the intentions of those thoughts. As Hebrews 4:13 points out we are naked before Him with whom we have to do, which is the whole of God. The Holy Spirit will nudge us (conviction) in the right direction and away from the wickedness of our hearts. If we do not heed those nudgings to change our thoughts and intentions to align with our Father and Savior our heart (mind) starts to become hardened. Each time we reject the leadership of the Holy Spirit we become increasingly insensitive to the Holy Spirit until we are unaware He is even speaking for we are focused on other voices. Let us purpose to maintain a soft and pliable heart eager to hear and do according to the will of our Father and Savior rejecting the other voices.
Psalm 139:23-24 (KJV)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Until our next publication, I speak blessing into your life right now, receive it in the name of Jesus, confess it, and walk it out with thanksgiving.
Numbers 6:24-26 (KJV)
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
