EVERLASTING FATHER

Greetings precious and wonderful saints, my brothers and sister in Christ Jesus. Thank you for joining us today in our ongoing study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible to expand our reach with the Truth. Thank you for sharing. The beautiful featured picture today was taken by Donna and me a couple of years ago about this time near the dam in Mount Vernon Maine. This is an area in which I spent a lot of time all of my life up until Medical School and then on every return trip to Maine from Missouri and later Texas. Lots of really good memories. I hope that all of you have these types of places in your lives. Now, let’s turn our attention to our study and continue reading our primary Bible text out loud.
Isaiah 9:6-8 (KJV)
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
The last two days I have been dealing with verse six of our text and the term “The mighty God”. When Jesus came to the earth, He was fully man (spirit, soul, body) and operated as a man, He is our prototype. That is, He demonstrated how we are to operate in the earth. Jesus told us that we were to do the works He did and even greater works (John 14:12). If He operated as God that would be impossible to us. However, if He operated as a man, full of faith, in love (agape), doubting not, and led of the Spirit we are to do likewise. How just would it be for Him (Jesus) to tell us to do something He knew we just plain cannot do? Even this day in Heaven, Jesus is all God and all man. His attributes as God have been restored. These are the Words of the Father as He raised Jesus from the dead (resurrection) and fully restored Him as God, The almighty God, The everlasting Father!
Hebrews 1:5-9 (KJV)
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
For just a moment I want to draw your attention to the word ‘firstbegotten’ in verse six. This is the Greek word transliterated to English as prōtotokos according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. I think we can easily see how our word prototype comes from this word. Now, let’s turn our attention back to the Isaiah text and the phrase; “the everlasting Father”. The word ‘Father’ in our text also can be interpreted as “head of a household” according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – Old Testament. Jesus is the Head of the Church, the Head of the household of faith.
Galatians 6:10 (KJV)
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
I am of the household of faith in Christ Jesus, what about you?
Ephesians 2:18-20 (KJV)
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
Jesus is the Rock, the foundation upon which we build and are built. Jesus Christ is the Head of this household. I am so blessed and thankful to be a part of this household.
1 Peter 2:4-5 (TLB)
4 Come to Christ, who is the living Foundation of Rock upon which God builds; though men have spurned him, he is very precious to God who has chosen him above all others.
5 And now you have become living building-stones for God’s use in building his house. What’s more, you are his holy priests; so come to him—[you who are acceptable to him because of Jesus Christ]—and offer to God those things that please him.
Jesus is the eternal (everlasting) Father, Head of this household of God and I am, like the Apostle Peter, one of the living stones comprising this house of God.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, doubt it not, and speak over yourself and your family in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
