THE PRINCE OF PEACE

Greeting’s children of the Most High God, the only Living God, and welcome back to this wonderful study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. God is so good to give us His Word and we can walk in fulness of light and not stumble about in the darkness. We can know the will of God and should not be wonderful as to the will of God concerning anything in our lives or the earth for that matter. Before I move forward, please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible to expand our reach with the Truth. Thank you for sharing. The beautiful picture of Donna and me was taken at Morton’s Steakhouse here in San Antonio on Christmas Eve. I sort of miss the leftovers, but I don’t miss the mess, or the work. God is so good. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah continuing to read out loud. Yes, out loud, you know why.
Isaiah 9:6-8 (KJV)
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
Today I will be continuing with verse six above and the final phrase of that verse, “The Prince of Peace”. I think most Christians would readily agree that Jesus is the Prince of Peace, yet, why is there so little peace in His body? Jesus told His disciples that He was leaving them His peace.
John 14:27 (KJV)
27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
The word ‘prince’ in our primary text is literally translated as the head person. Well, I hope we can all agree that Jesus is the Head person of the Church. Instructions come from the Head to the body and it is our responsibility to carry out those instructions. Unlike the human body which cannot refuse an instruction from the head, but we are freewill sons and can refuse His instruction. One might ask, what is this peace, it might be more proper to say who is this peace.
John 20:21-22 (KJV)
21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
I think Jesus made it clear that His peace is the Holy Spirit or we might say it is a function of the Holy Spirit. Remember we have God given peace as a part of our spirit man. The word ‘Spirit’ in the twenty-second verse should not be capitalized.
Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
We are to develop this peace but, in that development, we can call upon His peace to make up the difference so to speak in a given situation. The word ‘peace’ in the Hebrew is shalom according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. In the Greek the word ‘peace’ is eirēnē meaning prosperity, being one, quietness (tranquility), rest (full provision of God), and being set at one again with God according to Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. It seems that the way to activate this peace (His peace, the Holy Spirit) in our life is to resist anxiety (fear) and have our hearts and mouths filled with thanksgiving.
Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
We have a responsibility, an obligation, even a command to develop our peace, origin is the same as His, it is His given us from the beginning. Think of this in the vein that when we are weak (in our peace) He is strong (2 Cor 12:10). However, He does not expect us to stay weak, we are to develop and be strong sons of the Kingdom of God.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, doubt it not, and speak over yourself and your family in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
