AWAKE, ARISE, AND TRIUMPH

ALL MIGHTY GOD

Greetings precious and wonderful saints, my brothers and sister in Christ Jesus. Thank you for joining us today in our ongoing study of the Bible Book of Isaiah. Please take a moment and share these teachings as widely as possible to expand our reach with the Truth. Thank you for sharing. The beautiful featured picture today was taken by Donna and me a couple of years ago about this time near the dam in Mount Vernon Maine. The picture tomorrow will also be from the same area. This is an area in which I spent a lot of time all of my life up until Medical School and then on every return trip to Maine from Missouri and later Texas. Lots of really good memories. I hope that all of you have these types of places in your lives. Now, let’s turn our attention to our study and continue reading our primary Bible text out loud.
Isaiah 9:6-8 (KJV)
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
God is speaking to His people not the heathen warning them of their sin, their rebellion against Him, and the impending consequences of those choices. We and we alone choose to rebel, God does not lead us to rebel, other people cannot make us sin (rebel), and the devils cannot cause us to rebel, we and we alone make the decision to enter into sin. Down through the Old Testament in the Prophets and the historical books we see this awful cycle of serving God and all being good and then a decent into sin, idolatry, turning aside from the Word of God to other words. Commonly this happened when they married outside their faith or formed alliances with heathens. What about us?
Many of the Prophetic Books and especially this one had many things to say about the coming Savior, the Messiah. All peoples have desperately needed a Savior from the awful Day of Sin and Death in the Garden (Genesis 3:6) to this very day. When we left off yesterday, I pledged to shed light (really the Lord) on this conundrum of Jesus being God with us and being fully man and operating as a man. Let’s take a moment to examine the following verse and passage
Matthew 1:23 (KJV)
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
This verse tells us that the coming child, the coming son, will be a manifestation of God with us. However, He did not operate as God but as a man being the prototype for us.
Philippians 2:5-9 (TLB)
5 Your attitude should be the kind that was shown us by Jesus Christ,
6 who, though he was God, did not demand and cling to his rights as God,
7 but laid aside his mighty power and glory, taking the disguise of a slave and becoming like men.
8 And he humbled himself even further, going so far as actually to die a criminal’s death on a cross.
9 Yet it was because of this that God raised him up to the heights of heaven and gave him a name which is above every other name,
You and I dear ones are in the god class but we do not possess the fulness of God as does the co-equal Triune God. However, in Christ Jesus (who is now restored fully as God) we have access to it all according to His will. Here in Philippians the Apostle Paul tells us that Jesus laid aside what made Him big G god and He became like us little g god. What was laid aside was omnipotence (all powerful in Himself), omniscience (having all knowledge Himself), and omnipresence (being everywhere present simultaneously). Jesus like us in the earth had a spirit, that part of Him that was God and had been from eternity. He had a soul (mind, will, and emotions) which He had to train just as we do, and He had a physical body of the earth just like ours He had to keep under and subject to His Spirit. I hope you enjoy and become enriched by delving into the cracks and crevices of Scripture.
I will pick up on this somewhat tomorrow and then move on.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, doubt it not, and speak over yourself and your family in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
