FAITHFUL OR HARLOT?

Greetings dear and precious children of the only living God and welcome back to this in-depth study of the Book of Isaiah. What a wonderful Book. God is so good to us. Before I proceed, please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible so that the reach of this really good news is expanded. I have not mentioned it in some time, but the most reliable (compared to Facebook) way to receive these teachings is by email. Simply send me an email (pastordavidwood@gmail.com) requesting to be on my email list. You will receive an invitation back from me (I cannot just automatically put you on the list) which you need to accept and it is a done deal. The featured picture today is a selfie of Donna and me on a recent trip to Mount Batte in Camden, Maine. We are currently on the hunt (God directed) for a home here in San Antonio with a pool (smile) per Ms. Donna. Donna and I believe we are where the Lord wants us and, in this place, we will further the Kingdom according to His will for us. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah. Please continue to read aloud, yes, out loud. Faith comes by hearing the spoken Word (Rhema). It is impossible to please God without faith.
Isaiah 1:21-24 (KJV)
21 How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.
22 Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:
23 Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.
24 Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:
For the last several days I have been discussing “if” we are “willing and obedient”. We can judge the willing and obedient part by the fruit produced in our lives. That is to say are we eating the good of the land? I am not talking about what we have gotten used that the devil is dishing out or the development of a false humility. I am talking about the house we live in, the cars we drive, the food we are eating, but most of all what can we point to we have accomplished for the Kingdom. Our priority is always the Word as first and final authority, focused on the Kingdom, and God’s way of doing everything. Then the finest of the earth will flow into our lives, God will see to it. If this is not happening perhaps, we don’t believe it, perhaps we are not willing and obedient, or perhaps we are willfully ignorant.
The Lord through His Prophet Isaiah asks His people a question. How is it that you were once faithful but now have become as a harlot? Is He asking His Church, you and I individually, the same thing again in our time? We were a faithful people to God but now we are engaged in fornication and adultery towards God. We have gone after other gods. We used to seek after and render justice, do things God’s way but now we have gone the opposite way, the way of the world, the way of darkness. God goes on to say that their silver and wine is no longer pure but watered down and of low value. As we read and reflect upon our text, ask yourself if it does not sound like our day. Who can fix it? Not the world! Only the Church, the ones with all authority and all Power can change the wicked condition we find ourselves in and is the same solution for these people. The solution is always repentance, a true heart change and loving the Lord our God with all of our heart, soul, and might (Matthew 22:37-38).
Deuteronomy 6:5 (KJV)
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
From our Isaiah text we see that the leaders of that time were rebellious against God. Sound familiar? The Lord goes on to say that He is fed us with this and He calls His own people His adversary. Just how well is that going to work out for the people? I for one do not want God thinking of me as an adversary or enemy. However, that is the Truth of the matter when we refuse the Truth and rebel. We will see the fruit of the curse in our lives which is stealing, killing, and destroying and not the blessing which is all good things. However, we see the mercy of God as we continue to verse twenty-five.
Isaiah 1:25 (KJV)
25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:
Isaiah 1:25 (CJB)
25 But I will also turn my hand against you! I will cleanse your impurities as with lye and remove all your alloyed base metal.
He will remove the impurities in our lives. Next week we will see more of what that involves.
2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as your Bible Teacher and a Prophetic Voice in your life I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus’ name!
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
