THE THREE MINUTE WORD
Thursday – August 17, 2023, Av 30, 5783
Greetings dear and precious saints of God, my brothers and sisters in the faith, this common salvation. Welcome back to this enlightening study of the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. The study is not enlightening because of me, but because of Him, the Teacher. Please take a moment and share this teaching by every means available to you. The sharing is very important. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture today is of Donna and me at the Guenter House here in San Antonio, Texas. A very nice outing with our friends Evangelists Jeff and Denise Stiewig.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah. Continue (not start) to read out loud.
Isaiah 44:7-9 (KJV)
7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.
8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.
9 They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.
The Lord is once again cajoling His people to come to Him to understand and again believe that He has a wonderful life for them if they will only believe and submit to Him. He is saying the exact same thing to us. Why do we rebel against Him and not accept, believe His Word as absolute Truth. We are very quick to jump onto other sources of information who are far less reliable. The history of our God is the very best testimony.
2 Peter 1:18-20 (KJV)
18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
The Apostle Peter tells us, we have seen some stuff but the surest evidence is the record written ahead of time and performed. This is basically what the Lord is saying to this ancient people in Israel and to us now. In verse eight we see the command to fear not, neither be afraid. It is a seeming redundancy. On further evaluation the word “fear” has to do with a momentary startling. The word “afraid” however indicates the fear has been let into the person. The Hebrew word is transliterated to English as rāhāh, a verb meaning to be afraid, to fear. Occurring only in Isaiah 44:8, this word implies a fear that stems from uncertainty or a sense of being utterly alone according to The Complete Word Study Dictionary – Old Testament. He assured them there is only one God and He is that God. God asks them a question, is there a God other than me? He supplies the answer that He is it. So, why do we elevate far lesser things above the Lord? Fear (it is an evil spirit) comes with a lie, we believe, and let it in, why? We believe what we can see, hear, and feel and our own reasonings more than the Word of God. What is the cure? Let’s take a look at what the Lord told Joshua.
Joshua 1:7-9 (KJV)
7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Do we believe any of this? Are we doing this? Where is the fruit?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week. Remember, we love you and there is nothing you can do about it.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
