THE THREE MINUTE WORD
Wednesday – August 16, 2023, Av 29, 5783
Greetings dear and precious saints of God, my brothers and sisters in the faith, this common salvation. Welcome back to this enlightening study of the wonderful Bible Book of Isaiah. The study is not enlightening because of me, but because of Him, the Teacher. Please take a moment and share this teaching by every means available to you. The sharing is very important. Thank you for sharing. The featured picture today is provided by Marilyn Stevens of a little chipmunk, beautiful picture. Thank you so much Marilyn.
Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text in the Book of Isaiah. Continue (not start) to read out loud.
Isaiah 44:3-7 (KJV)
3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
4 And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.
5 One shall say, I am the LORD’S; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.
6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.
Let’s look at the New Living Translation to get some extra clarity for verse seven of our text.
Isaiah 44:7 (NLT)
7 Who is like me? Let him step forward and prove to you his power. Let him do as I have done since ancient times when I established a people and explained its future.
Here we see the Lord taunting or challenging His people to put forward these gods they think are so great. Of course, there is no god including the demonic forces that can do anything they have not been empowered by people to do. He says, look I appointed you as my people in the ancient past and I have told ahead of time all that would come. The Lord asks, can any of your other so-called gods do anything even close to this? I have used a little license here paraphrasing but I think you will find it consistent with the context.
Isaiah 44:7-9 (KJV)
7 And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.
8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.
9 They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.
Walking with our God is not a gamble, if will fully submit to Him (ah, there is the rub) our present and our future are not a mystery. We are not in the position of “oh well, we’ll just have to see what happens”. We know and we have the tools to overcome every demonic assault. When we study, we become aware of the wiles (deceptions, devices) of the demons.
Ephesians 6:10-12 (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Fear is a spirit, an evil spirit, and they come to us all but it is like someone coming to the door or your house, you are not required to admit them. Feeling fear, being aware of fear is far different than accepting it into our mind, thinking upon it, talking it, and reacting to it. We allow it for we don’t trust God, we don’t believe He will come through, we have more faith in the fear than God. Selah.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here tomorrow.

2 Chronicles 20:20 b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (KJV)
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
