FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT – FAITH – PART FOUR
Greetings dear and precious saints of God and welcome back to Friday Nuggets. Currently I am teaching on the Fruit of our spirit. Three weeks ago, I started with the fruit of faith and I will be continuing this week. However much I have to say about faith there remains truck loads more to say. I believe the Holy Spirit our Helper and Teacher will lead us into the Truth we need for this hour. Our Lord, our God is really, really good. Now let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text continuing to read out loud.
Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
As I continue forward with our study of the fruit of faith we come to a very startling Truth. Scripture says it is impossible to please God without faith. Faith is not optional if we want to please the Heavenly Father.
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Wow, seems to me this is something we must pursue with all of our heart. Does it please you when someone believes you, has faith, has confidence in you? What about if they are skeptical of you, think maybe you will, maybe you won’t, and you never have the sense they have confidence in you? Our Heavenly Father is no different, we are made in His image and likeness. Moving forward, in the rather lengthy passage to follow, James says by the unction of the Holy Spirit that faith without works is dead.
James 2:17-26 (KJV)
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
How many of us have talked (prayed) to the Lord about this and that and did not give one thought to the Truth that we would have a vital role in it coming to pass?
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next week with more Golden Nuggets from the Throne.
