GIFTS – PART FIFTY-FOUR
GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT – PART FOURTEEN

Greetings and welcome to all who join this blog, the Friday Bible Study titled “Gifts”. I am currently focused on the nine gifts of the Spirit (Holy Spirit). Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand the reach of this Ministry and the Truth. Now prepare to dive into our study of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. A gift can be a talent, skill, or ability and is a present, or something granted. In this case it is a gifting of the Holy Spirit which conveys a supernatural ability. Now, let’s turn our attention to the Apostle Paul’s discussion of these gifts by the unction of the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:1 (KJV)
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
We, you and me, have decided to follow the Apostles advice and by the way that of the Holy Spirit and not be ignorant concerning the gifts of the Spirit. These are to operate freely in every Church body, and in every believer. They are to operate decently and in order, confusion is of the devil, order and clarity are of the Lord.
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 (KJV)
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
Over several weeks we have been working our way through the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. At times the Lord has led me on what might seem like side trips but I believe these side trips ministered to whomever the Lord had in mind. By way of a reminder these nine gifts are commonly placed in or thought of in three categories of three gifts each. First (not in order of importance) there are the knowledge gifts which are word of wisdom, word of knowledge, and discerning of spirits. Second, are the speaking gifts which are prophecy, tongues, and the interpretation of tongues. Third, are the power gifts which are the gifts of faith, miracles, and healing. These are distributed according to the will of God; however, we are not prohibited from seeking Him for additional gifts. If you don’t like the gift you have been given, get over it, be obedient to the Spirit and perfect your use of the gift. These gifts profit the individual and the local body. These gifts are not just for Church services but for whenever the Lord needs us to flow in our particular gift(s). We must resist the spirit of fear, he, fear, will come, he is not of God, but we must resist and be obedient to the leading of our Lord. Resist the spirit of fear but embrace the spirit of power, love, and a disciplined mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Every disobedience of Scripture or the leadership of the Holy Spirit is a failure to love God.
Now, let’s turn our attention to the final two gifts which are “divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues”. These are probably the two most common gifts of the Spirit one will see manifest in a congregation. Some Church gatherings will have prophecy and the Office of Prophet operating but that seems to be far less common. The fact that the gift of prophecy and the Office of Prophet operate far less should not be interpreted as the will of God. We know from Scripture that all nine gifts are to be operating for not only the benefit (profit) of the one with the gift but individuals in the body and the body at large. Now what about the other six gifts? The Church I have described above like the Church at Corinth is an immature Church still on milk and not strong meat. Why are we so slack? Why are Pastors not concerned and preaching this to build faith resulting in the manifestations of all nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. Without the effective operation of all nine gifts of the Holy Spirit the local body will be dysfunctional and ineffectual. Of course, the prerequisite for any gift of the Holy Spirit is the baptism of the Holy Spirit as evidenced by the speaking in tongues (our prayer language not the gift of divers tongues).
The Apostle Paul spends almost the whole fourteenth chapter of 1st Corinthians talking about tongues, the interpretation of tongues and prophecy. It seems that tongues were being used, manifested, improperly in the Church bringing confusion to those in attendance. Let’s meditate his words as I end for today.
1 Corinthians 14:26-33 (KJV)
26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Lord willing, I will pick up right here next Friday.
2 Chronicles 20:20b (KJV)
20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
