GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT – PART TWELVE
Greetings and welcome to all who join this blog, the Friday Bible Study titled “Gifts” which is currently focused on the nine gifts of the Spirit (Holy Spirit). Please take a moment and share this teaching as widely as possible to expand the reach of this Ministry and the Truth. Now, let us prepare to dive into our study titled “Gifts”. Currently we are examining the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. Each of these gifts of the Spirit conveys a supernatural ability. Now, let’s turn our attention to our primary Bible text and the Apostle Paul’s discussion of these gifts by the unction of the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:1 (KJV)
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 (KJV)
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
Last Friday I left off with the discussion or teaching concerning the gift of prophecy. I am taking my time with this for I do not want my readers to be confused between the gift of prophecy and the Office of Prophet and their prophetic gift. The Five-Fold Ministry gifts includes the Prophet and these people are ordained of God for the perfecting, maturing, training of the saints for ministry and governing the Church.
Ephesians 4:11-12 (KJV)
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Yes, each of us are in Ministry whether we are on the platform so to speak or not. The other thing is that God does not have cookie cutter ministries where one looks exactly like the other. We are all very unique and God uses us as He wills in our own special and unique ways. I don’t want to discourage anyone but there is no point at which we have arrived but we are all to grow in knowledge and Godly function daily (eternally). This applies to all, in or out of the Five-Fold Ministry. Now let’s scoot back to verse ten of our primary text and further consider the gift of prophecy. God through the Apostle Paul goes to great lengths to differentiate between, make a distinction between, prophecy, tongues, and the interpretation of tongues. Tongues followed by the interpretation is often said to be a prophecy equivalent (more on this in a moment). In either case, tongues with interpretation or prophecy, the Church is edified. Let us take a moment and consider the following passage which further illuminates our topic.
1 Corinthians 14:1-5 (KJV)
1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. (Bold added)
4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. (Bold added)
5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
To edify means to build up, confirm or encourage. Tongues by itself whether in our prayer closet or the Church is for the speaker and serves no purpose for the other persons present. However, tongues with interpretation brings encouragement to the Church. Prophecy (gift of the Spirit) on the other hand always builds other up, encourages others, and brings comfort to others. When a Prophet speaks it may include these elements but there will be a look into the future, the illumination of a present sin, and the way of correction (repentance) and the benefit of repentance. One last point on this topic before I end for this week. Notice that one gift of the Spirit is the “interpretation of tongues” not the translation of tongues. I believe this distinguishes tongues with interpretation from prophecy. Prophecy is from Gods’ mouth, to the prophesying persons ears (spiritual) and is proclaimed word for word to the congregation. This is whether it be by a Prophet or someone speaking by the gifting of the Holy Spirit.

20 … Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
Until our next publication, as a Bible Teacher and Prophetic Voice I speak this blessing over each and every one of you, receive it, believe it, and speak over yourself and your family by faith in Jesus name! Quit asking God to bless you, you are already blessed, you have the Blessing, give Him something to do by the words of your mouth. Once you know the will of God, decree the thing (Job 22:28, Isaiah 45:11, Mark 11:23). (The Blessing is the Holy Spirit) We have left God way to long with nothing to do in our lives.
Numbers 6:24-26 (AMP)
24 The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you;
26 The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually).
